A few from Spain the last few days. It's been a tad warm mid 40s a couple of days, c 10,000 metres of climbing in 4 rides varying from long 10km 5% drags up slow windy switchbacks to cheeky 17-20% ramps near summits.

Smooth ribbons of lovely tarmac winding their way through the mountains, having ridden in France, Portugal, Belgium, Germany & Holland before I have to say the Spanish are very respectful of cyclists, plenty of room given by motorists, that's when you actually see one as they're pretty scarce on the B roads, unlike the Portuguese who take being c**ts on the road to new levels.

I rented the bike from Meta Bike Cafe near Altea, a Ridley Fenix, not quite my Di2 S-Works Venge but did the job at 100 Euros for a 5 day rental.

A few of the rides I did.

Went for a sneaky trail into the Goring Hall estate for a mooch round the private woods but was denied by high summer.

Did this over the weekend yorkshirewoldscyclechallenge.org.uk it was good event, ticked off a few new personal bests such as distance and climbing in a day. Pleased to have made it all the way around without feeling like I'd killed myself in doing so!

Here's my Cinelli propped up looking out at the sea at Bridlington, my mate wasn't so careful with his Marin!

True. The photo doesn't do it justice but it really was 8ft high with nettles. No way through.

Nice pictures! The spanish really do have some awesome roads. I cycled on holiday last year on the costa brava a bit further north and chose my routes before going based on wiggly roads which turned out to be great cycling roads up in the hills.
Majorca this year coming up, also on a hired Ridley Fenix

The hills/mountains behind Benidorm are bloody amazing, don't go to Benidorm for the beer and nightlife, go for the cycling.

A reasonably uninspiring pic of Cissbury ring from last night. It's pretty much the first junction for me, so I'm forever up there. The chalk trails were pretty deadly in places after the rain. I broke no records on the downhills anywhere, thankful to stay upright at times.

Riding around the French Med hills at the moment, and much fun to be had too. Very un-PH bike - super narrow tyres pumped up to the max and calliper brakes. I'm just thankful to be alive. biggrin

Don't worry about the un-PH Ness of the bike - have a look at the Tour bikes of the 50s and 60s, they did OK

Great ride last night - nice pint at the George in Burpham. Would have had one at the Bridge in Amberley too, except it's at the bottom of Amberley Mount and I wanted to give it plenty

How do you find the BMC? Don't see many of them on the roads. I'm trying to persuade a mate to get one instead of yet another Giant.

Love it, I upgraded from an Allez sport with a Sora group set.

The bike weighs in at 7.5 kg dry weight with Garmin mount and two bottle cages which is a good weight.

The Ultegra group set is faultless with crisp gear changes and just feels quality.

The frame is stiff and precise and make the ascents a lot easier and the descents feel less scary!

I bought the previous year model so got £500 off which is a bonus.

The bike came with Shimano wheels so I put my Fulcrums on and I've changed the 110mm stem for 100mm but apart from that I've left it as it was.

In all very happy with it smile
