Top effort!

Ride cut short this morning, so no sunrise/beach pic. Lost a bolt from the crank rings which explained why it just didn’t feel right from the off. Looks like it’s been rubbing the frame on the way out too - will check the full damage tonight...

Join the club.......

Mine was a result of a service presumably bolts not tightened and I was 20 miles from home when the peddle decided to detach itself....

Today’s 45 mile, group ride out around the Wirral, was mostly powered by the “Food of Gods” aka Beans on Toast with salad cream...

A few work photos from earlier in the week. Chacaltaya to Zongo in Bolivia, a descent from 5,300m to 1,000m. Great fun and amazing scenery.

Huayna Potosi.

Chacaltaya, the world's highest ski resort. Now abandoned.

Some sort of old fashioned ski lift.

The Anaconda.

Ventured out to the newly opened Wishawhill Wood Pumptrack. My second time out on a pumptrack and starting to get he hang of it now. Able to manual over a few of the bumps which massively helps keep the momentum up. Getting close to clearing some the jumps too.
Shame the track is located in a fairly rough area. There were folk ripping about on quad bikes nearby and the surrounding area is strewn with litter etc. Hopefully this new investment will have a positive impact on the area.

Tree down on the cycle path on the way to the race this morning...

Strange that there doesn't seem to be a stump left behind?

Ah! That's because it isn't a tree - it's "just" a branch that's snapped off higher up! eek

Warning signs all over the place, but still there were clowns walking dogs off the lead where a MTB race was taking place. [sigh] rolleyes

Yay! The finish line arch of today's Brass Monkeys race. Sadly, due to poor admin on my part, I failed to get my entry in on time,so I was just spectating today...

Random racers going hard into yet another lap.

4-hour category riders really had to work hard today. Greasy conditions in places, and round and round a five mile undulating circuit. I did three slow laps myself after the racers had finished and I ended up glad that I'd not entered. I had proper "jelly-legs" for most of the route and wouldn't have been at all competitive today.

Random cows in a field nearby.

That looks like great fun!

Anyway, normal Monday morning service from me - a bit of a moody look, but was about 25C and 95% humidity at 0600...

I headed up to the Peak District to spin round the East side. A couple of laps of Lady Canning's Plantation, which I will return too in better weather, followed by a top-of-the-moors windy slog, with some really fun downhill off Moss Road, and particularly Devil's Elbow, which genuinely was some of the more technical I've ever done. No falls, plenty of muddy singletrack, a bit of rain and all of the wind.

Me climbing back up to the turn-off at the bottom of Moss Road:

Somewhere just after Moss Road:

I rode round there a few weeks back with a friend from Sheffield and really enjoyed it.

Yeah it was a great ride, I'll be back in drier weather to give it another bash!

A final pic from the trip, the jigsawing of a LaPierre X-Flow, a Whyte 901, all of the gear we need and myself and my partner into a Fiat Panda 100hp, because I'm too lazy to re-attach my bike-racks to my roof bars. It all fits!

Riding to work at this time of year, you wake up in the dark, listen to the wind in the trees (or is that rain?) and you're getting ready, still not sure how bad the weather is, or how it will effect the ride, what kind of mud you'll plough through, even though you've been watching the forecast for 5 days. As I left the house this morning I knew I'd be up on the Downs in the early sunlight.
Near the top of the Bostal

Looking south east, Shoreham and the coast behind the trees.
Chanctonbury Ring. It isn't a bad route to work...

That’s pretty much a perfect day for me by the looks of it!

I’m not a big beer drinker.. but a post ride beer is awesome.

Can’t wait for all the mud and slop round here to turn to dust again...
