Haha! The journey over from Bedford was quite pleasant, slogged up Bison Hill, but then we swung round into the head wind and I must admit I struggled on the return trip. (Had had about 4 hours sleep and the beginnings of man flu to contend with though, so I didn't go to hard on myself!) PomBstard said:
Logged another 40km/750m of sweet singletrack today - and great views around Stromlo
Drivetrain is a tad dry - dust, not mud...
And then got in the car and drove 350km home...
Big drive home, but wish I could get in the car to find dust, just mud. Clutch is off BTW.Drivetrain is a tad dry - dust, not mud...

Brighstone trails today for me, really need more aggressive tyres riding at this time of year I had a fair few foot dabs to save washing out today.

Good spot - clutch now on It’s a 650km round trip in a day, but very much worth it - have done this many times. Usually about 3 or 4 car loads to make a social day of things. Leave Sydney at 0600, on the bikes at 1000, reload the cars around 1700, home around 2100, beer and bed. Recommended to anyone in the area who is even vaguely interested in mtb
It was too muddy to have a decent ride on sunday, so I went out and cleared a few fallen trees from one of my local trails. It was bloody hard work, the tiredest I've felt after a local ride for a long time!

Midweek sunrise/beach pic, but showing one of the best jobs in the world...
“Bob, I want you to clean the beach.”
“OK, what do I do?”
“Take that tractor and trailer, drive to the beach, and drive up and down the beach, combing as you go.”
“And that’s it?”
“Yep. But you’ve got to do it every day, and when you’ve done the ocean beach, you need to do the Harbour beach too. There’s a lot to be done!”

I love this time of year! Yes, it's cold and dark when you get up, but you know in less than an hour the sun will be coming up on the Downs, and you'll be right in it!
My own murmuration!
There's a notice at the bottom of the climb that tells you about the three different breeds of pigs and that they are "entirely free range" -not my idea of free range!

Got roped into another Scout group cycling camp today.
Got dropped off in Rhyl and the group cycled to Rhos-on-Sea (12 miles) along NCR5 on the North Wales coast.
The forecast was for torrential rain all day, so we escaped the worst of it, although a steady head wind made progress less than fast, but hey, we had a group of tired children at the finish...

I’m just an occasional helper....mainly with any activities that are cycling or cooking related (I double as Camp Cook as I enjoy cooking...)
I’ve been asked to plan a ride for the Beaver group to do a ride around Llyn Brenig later in the year...
Random route out to Swinley yesterday.
Getting there and back, and riding half red and all of blue came to 31 miles, and despite a couple of hail showers and a brief flurry of snow, and the sloppy ground in places, I really enjoyed myself...
M3 (or M5?) Half Track parked in a Farnborough street.
One of the Deepcut locks on the Basingstoke canal from 'below'.
The same lock seen from 'above'.
First hail shower, near St Anne's church in Bagshot.
Another hail shower, at "that climb" up to Labyrinth on the Swinley Forest Red Trail.
A good enough reason to always "Stop, look, and listen" for trains at a level crossing. It's the first time I recall 'meeting' a train here, but reason enough to stay behind that white line...
