Well today’s ride didn’t go quite according to plan.

Rounded a downhill corner on a narrow country lane to find some sort of weird, wet blossom covering the entire width of the road. Front wheel went out from under me in an instant and bang.

Soggy ride at Cannock Chase by Lewis Craik, on Flickr

Had a wet ride at Cannock Chase yesterday, it had stopped raining by this point, although my shoes/waterproof socks were full of water. I had just remembered my spare set of dry gloves though!

50 mile romp in the Yorkshire Dales, from Burnsall to Hawes and back. Which meant climbing Fleet Moss. From both sides. thumbup

I was out walking in that area the other day, Solocle. Lovely area, but it was very wet!
No rain out to the east of Leeds this morning, very pleasant.
Yeah, my ride was on Sunday. I'd been planning to set out in the morning, but I woke up and heard the unmistakable hammering of rain. frown Fortunately, the afternoon was pretty dry, although there was surface water, and the top of Fleet Moss was shrouded in cloud, which was something of an experience. The weather does look to be getting a bit better, at least.

Bagged a last minute chance for a scoot round the local trail, but needed to drop my daughter off somewhere first. Instead of getting ready in the house and riding off, I needed to get the bike on the car and toss the riding gear in, and get going. All good until...

First, and hopefully last, one-gloved lap of the Dam!

56 miles over to Leysdown, gorgeous day for it, more wind than expected though. Visited to site of the first aircraft factory in the UK, statue is of the Shorts Brothers. Found a nice quiet spot on the beach for a biscuit and a drink! Shame the cafe was shut though.

Start of McCarrs Creek descent...

Narrabeen Lagoon trail...

View across the Lagoon - bit overcast but still good place to be...

For that last pic, the bike is unsupported, wheels leaning on the little upright, about 2” high. I expected to hear a splash at any moment

Yesterday was the British Cycling Let's Ride evening in Coventry, so I did a few laps of the ring road with my co-pilot.

Let’s Ride Coventry by Lewis Craik, on Flickr

The event seemed bigger than last year, with a tweak to the route meaning it now goes through the cathedral ruins. There was also a street food area, which went down well with me!

Pretty easy I'd say, it would have got flicked up by the front wheel, the end just happened to go by your BB at the right angle and then the crank/chaining did the rest! biggrin

Happened at the top of a little rock garden so came down with no way to move pedals to balance - made life interesting...

Got out to Cannock Chase after work with my partner, just in time to do one lap. It was quiet, which was great, and a bit dusty and blown out, which was less great, but still very good. First ride on my new bike, so obviously I enjoyed it a lot. Didn't exactly stretch its abilities, Follow the Dog is notoriously friendly, but I was out with my partner, who didn't view a lap of the Monkey Trail favourably. Still, a lot of fun.

I posted the same pic on the new bike thread, sorry!

Lovely day riding around the hills around here including the ridgeway, Coome Gibbet, Walbury hill, Whitchurch hill and Streatley.

Took this at the top of Coombe, was a lovely view over the area from up there:

I should confess, I drove up here for this one, but I have ridden to Devils Dyke a million times more than I have driven. My daughter wanted to try her new Nikon out...
