Ordered the frame 8mths ago, finally arrived in October, collar bone broken in April had to have surgery in November, finished building it up in December, having already built the wheels in the summer.
Finally after 8mths of waiting the break in the weather and the collar bone recovered enough, I finally got 3.5hrs out on it today. Wow, I did a good job putting together a great bike
If it goes as well as it looks... wow! Finally after 8mths of waiting the break in the weather and the collar bone recovered enough, I finally got 3.5hrs out on it today. Wow, I did a good job putting together a great bike
A beautiful day in Luxembourg today. I cycled 27km to meet a French mate halfway between our houses, then we continued around the city and countryside.
I got back to my local area with only 90km recorded, and, having registered for the February Grand Fondo on Strava, I kept cycling around my local area to clock up the required 100km.
That was foolish of me. It’s my first time out on my bike since December, and I’m following a Keto diet .... when I got home I completely tanked, and was then sick. bks.
Anyway, some pics
Everyone I cycle with gets a puncture. I’m the common denominator.
In the Grund. Old town.

These are photos from yesterday's ride. Definitely felt like spring with temperatures around 14/15 degrees C and was certainly warm enough for shorts and t-shirt with short finger gloves.
The route started in Chilworth, went through Peaslake and included the Leith Hill and Tower loop. 27 miles, 891m of climbing, and was the first time I relied 100% on digital navigation to do a route like this. I found it via Komoot, downloaded the GPX file, and then imported it to Garmin Connect. I then used the navigation on my watch to do the whole loop. There were a few minor wrong turns but overall it was very successful! I would never have been able to do a solo ride in a new area like this otherwise.
Conditions were generally quite good. A little bit muddy in places but not sufficiently muddy that a rear mudguard was necessary:
That river was supposed to be a path:

Epic sunset last night! Really didn't feel like the slog up to the Downs after a hard day at work, but the light was fantastic. This is the last corner on Chantry Lane before you pop out on the SDW.
Looking South and East, the Isle of Wight is over there somewhere.
Just a SDW sign...
The sun was setting in the opposite direction to where I was heading, had to keep stopping.
