I used to have a traditional TT....utterly hated it. I was really apprehensive about buying a kickr in case I hated it as it's hardly cheap.....hand on heart I can truly say it's been the single best bike purchase (other than the bike) I've ever made.

Oh....the 40km TT plan is pretty brutal.
I completely agree, it's very expensive, but it's been worth every penny. It's so accurate compared to the other pos I bought.

I did Tray Mountain earlier and I have therefore completed my 8 week sustained power build. I start the 'Climbing Road Race' plan on Tuesday with a FTP test. vomit I'll only be doing it for 6 weeks towards the Kentish Killer, but it should be good preparation for me. It's a club ride tomorrow, but as snow is forecast I'll probably complete a nice gentle ride tomorrow to keep my legs turning. smile

Yes good luck. The FTP Test is never a fun one....unless you're not trying.

I've noticed how yours, Wobert and Johno500's rides are not showing as you are all showing as 'private member'.

For them to show in the group feed you will need to go to your TR profile and change the career and workout setting from private to public.

smile
Apologies, I'll change it. But been off the bike recovering from a pneumonia for 3wks, so nothing to show or report.

My FTP of 262 is now but a memory and I'll have to start with a new FTP which will make me cry, doing it and then the crud result it's going to produce as well.... cry

Do a team search on TR website.

It comes up if you search Pistonheads - Pedal Powered

My god, that search function is poor.... Do you have a link (to save me scolling through 1000's of teams)

I've just got myself a Tacx Vortex from CRC (BC discount came in very handy) so currently having a play with what's out there app wise. I've joined the group (I'm TedMaul) and did the '20 min' hour long FTP test this morning. FTP/kg is pretty low as I'm 19st in old money but can still hustle a bike a long at a fair lick, it's all in the thighs wink

I've given up with BKool on my Galaxy Tab as it's a total pos (Bkool, not my Galaxy), mates uses it on a PC with no issues so deciding between that or Zwift. Does anyone views on either environment? Zwift looks a lot of fun ...

Just did Antelope, maintain flat on the hoods for first interval and drops on second. Fourth and last interval a bit ropey....knackered!

Me too, on hoods for 1st, 2nd and 3rd intervals, then tops to keep cadence up. Had a numb arse for the last two intervals as using spare bibs due to this being the third session in as many days.

Goosed now and will be refuelling with a full roast beef dinner, guilt free.....

I tend to use the workout creator to amend workouts and often make them longer, the "sessions" I do, I try to aim for 120-140TSS, and do 2 of these per week. I do 1 early morning easy ride of around 40TSS, 1 sweetspot session 90-100TSS and 1 long ride per week around 150TSS. Lately, I've been using TR for 4 out of those 5 times per week as the weather has been bad and I was having issues with the gearing on my bike....but that's now sorted (using a kickr, I don't need to change gears.

I also tend to do a warm up that I made prior to most difficult sessions as it takes me quite a while to warm up, this s just an 8minute slope 50-65%, then 1 min at 100% FTP, 90secs recovery and then 30secs at 120%....then I start the other workouts. Or....I use the workout creator to amend the workout in the session and ride that.

Just joined the group. We can all see how much suffering we've been doing now hehe

So that will be Eclipse?

That's next weekend for me ....

This week will be better, as I won't be doing all three workouts on consecutive days....

One session I've never been able to complete at 100% intensity is Morgan. 8 reps of 3mins on/3 mins off. 1st 2 efforts are 110 then 115% FTP and the final 6 are at 120%.

I did that on 3 Jan, it completely broke me. The only reason I was able to finish it on 100% was by increasing my cadence to around 100 and telling myself it was only three minutes of pain.

Just joined the TR group ... Another fan here. Only really use it to create my sessions and log them to look back at my data . I have around 7-8 old faithfull sessions around the 1hr mark. Have my power meter bluetooth to my phone to use as the screen . Looks liek other users in the group are very similar in the 1hour specific workouts. Im not alone !!
May have to borrow some of your interval workouts. Out of interest are you using rollers or not particularly sticking to target power. I struggle to keep on target as a man trying not to fall off!
Always on the Turbo when 'Training' especially with power .... You cant get close to the power effort on the rollers. I use rollers as a warm up method for races and if i fancy 20min spin on the track bike to get the legs back to life on a easy day.

Over the last 3 years I have been using the GCN videos as a basis of my training on the turbo and have ‘seen’ a marked improvement in my cycling fitness.

I know there are some TR plans for some paid for subscription videos (Sufferfest etc), but I was wondering can you record data onto TrainerRoad and then create a workout from there, or would you have to manually create a workout within TR to sync with the video?

After a quick look, I don’t think you can use TR to purely record data. Could you possibly follow a ‘random’ workout, then edit to suit?

As you mention at the end ... Create your own workout .. Say a 2hr ride with the power set at your FTP , then it will look clean when you use it to view your recorded data post workout. (if that makes any sense) .

Ok, I was struggling doing a consistent 260 w on the rollers on and off for 90 mins this weekend. Need to get back on to ebay as there are some local turbo's ending soon. I do like the rollers but it would be nice to be able to sit up or get out the saddle. Bits that don't normally get numb are doing so.
