I went in the office on Friday for only the second time since March. Warm but drizzled all the way there, and on the way home I was struggling to make 10kph in to the head wind at one point!
Bikes are our main form of transport these days though so have ended up doing 20-30km most weekends just pottering about.

I was made redundant at the end of Feb, and finally started a new job, from home, last Monday.

I've been trying to get out for an hour each morning, which I'm calling my commute, and have managed 6 of 7 days so far. (I had to drive to the office to collect a laptop on day one.)

I'm enjoying it, but it's not so easy to justify it to the wife as saving us from having a second car...

hehe
Congrats on the new job!

I rode to the office last week, first time in ages.

Only went as my Rapha order was being delivered there and i couldn't change delivery address. Forgot both the building pass for the underground car park, and the office pass hehe

Luckily i'd had one one my team collect from the courier and call me when it was there biggrin

Weather was lovely but i went about 1600 and the traffic in Budapest was pretty bad, so much so i ended up coughing and spluttering for much of the ride. The fumes were really noticeable compared to the previous few weeks frown

Ta very much. I'm lucky that I don't need to go near a town centre now or in the future for commuting. The traffic is gradually picking up here too.

Well this thread has been quiet for a while, everyone working from home?

Typically last week, when I was wfh, was cold but dry, and the weather's turned horrible this week when I'm in the office. Pissed it down all the way in on Tuesday and I was struggling to do 15kph on the way home in places I usually bimble along at 25. Weather station near my house is currently claiming 50kph wind speed so might be a slow one home tonight.

I'm on a different job to the post recently, and am now cycling commuting 3 days a week. 2 days from home.

It was pretty grim last night, but alright this morning.

Trying to do a garage Turbo on the days I WFH.

Working from home. I miss cycling to work. Fitness has definitely suffered despite upping the running a bit. I noticed on strava end of year stats my ‘main’ sport was running as opposed to cycling for the first time.

Currently trying to sell my old road bike to get one of those trendy gravel bikes which should help get more mileage in.

I was only cycling in once a week as it was, but with the weather / temp / darkness at the moment and a circa 70 mile round trip, i don't much fancy it at the moment. Once its either drier or warmer, I'll start it up again!

Depending on what it has on it, and how much faff you're willing to put up with, you might get more breakingit and selling the bits.

I got quite a bit for a well used 10 speed 105 groupset which I took off a Trek where I broke the frame.

I've not been to work once this year, infact only about ten times since March 2020.

Would bloody love to.

The few times I have been I've gone in the car as by bike ride includes using the train to get under the Mersey and public transport is forbidden by my company currently due to covid.

Nicest day we've had all week is the one day I'm WFH this week. D'Oh.

Stopped off at a local bike shop on the way home home last night, sign on the door said they're open but apparently they're allowed to open to do repairs, but they're not allowed to sell anything. So I had to order a can of chain lube from decathlon rather supporting a local shop frown

Haven't cycled to work for nearly a year. Couldn't do it in the summer as the cleaning facilities had to be cordoned off.

Still, I sometimes "cycle to work" by either doing a local loop early morning or jumping onto the trainer. But not twice a day, so technically I'm sleeping at work then riding to work at home the next morning. wink

Been commuting to work on the bike about 60% of the time, taking the car when it's too wet.

It's the winter I've done on the bike, and now that I have my warm clothing sorted its really enjoyable. The countryside is lovely with a touch of frost, seeing the sun set/rise on the bike is also fab, familiar roads also become quite the adventure at night.

Can't beat riding into the sunrise. Luckily I still have a job and I've carried on as normal through the winter in all weathers. 6000 miles last year and a fair proportion of that was commuting to work. With multilayer clothing on it's no problem, infact I've been a bit too warm on a couple of occasions.

It's been a bit wet lately!

My gear cable froze in the liner this morning, meaning I was in my easiest gear most of the way in. My commute is lumpy, so I could get up the hills, but had no speed on the flat, and got VERY cold.

I'm still riding to work a few times a week, like Covid hasn't happened really! I get to choose between the South Downs for the off road adventure or quiet country lanes with the road bike. Although the lanes at the moment are better suited to the 2.3" knobblies on the myb rolleyes

I've been able to keep it up until Christmas, but this latest lockdown has fked me. It's the schools being closed, home schooling is basically a full time job in itself and as we use the in-laws for support it's not worth the risk of going in to the office. Motivation is short too, the days are long enough as it is without taking a couple of hours out for a ride - and without a 'destination' it's laps of the park or stick it out with the traffic into the city and back.

Another couple of weeks I hope things will break a bit (heard that one before haven't we!). At least the mornings should be lighter so if I can get my arse out of bed I can get a bit in before the first lessons.

Had a great commute to work yesterday. Dropped off at approx 1,800m and descend down to 300m through the clouds and the laurel forests to my office above the azure blue Atlantic in Funchal, Madeira. Same again on Friday (hopefully), but tomorrow it will be the road bike...

I found time to reassemble my Hybrid / winter hack last night, so I set off at about 5 this morning as per usual. I forgot to charge my main lights though, and they both ran out after about a mile. Fortunately the route is mainly street lit, and not as busy as it is out of lockdown, so the emergency rubber lights from Decathlon were adequate. It was a lot milder than of late as well, so I didn’t need to be on ice watch.

Sounds terrible. I hope you get back to freezing rain in the dark in Blighty soon.

hehe
