Got a puncture this morning.
Felt the tyre and there seemed to be air.. so pumped it up and hoped for the best. Yeah like that was going to work.
So pulled over again and changed the tyre. I checked everything and put a new tube in, pulled the embedded glass out of the tyre (Conti 4 seasons) and checked underside of the tyre and rim for good measure.
Had gloves which made the job a whole lot easier. Very satisfying undertaking my first roadside puncture. I have been lucky that previous punctures have happened just as I go into work. This is where I perfected my craft.

came back from holiday on Monday, rather than ride my grotty commuter first day back I rode my nice bike and had a puncture in Streatham which took the shine off it (gatorhardshell 25).
Remaining days this week I've been off the bike save for the odd Boris bike because I've had some social engagements I didn't want to cycle home from, like the Olympia beer festival.
Had a try of the fixed wheel, single speed: http://fixedwheelbrewery.co.uk/new-site/our-brews/...
I'll ride in again tomorrow.

the people this should incentivise are those in government, to make cycling a much more attractive choice.https://theconversation.com/cycling-to-work-major-...

I do believe my old boss has had one a while, any activated it a couple of times too.Not for me though. I'd rather a proper lid.
Cycled today for the first time in almost 2 weeks. Thought I'd really struggle, but today was the fastest day yet, even though every pedestrian on the shared paths seemed incapable of staying on their side; I must have had to stop and wait for someone to get out of the way half a dozen times at least. Bunch of phone zombies!
Only managed two last week and one this week but all the swimming and (Fitbit-encouraged) extra walking I've been doing has helped and I smashed it.
Got a bit crestfallen when I was destroyed by a cargo bike in Regents Park until I caught up with him and found out it was a 30mph electric one.

I got "electric biked" this morning. I was catching a lass on the flat, and then as the road started to rise, I wasn't catching her. Whilst she still looked like she was just tootling along.
It was a nice bike, and I complimented her on it when back on the flat. More cyclists = good.
I nearly burst a blood vessel trying to catch him and he was just pulling away relentlessly. It was a nice bike, and I complimented her on it when back on the flat. More cyclists = good.
I caught up with him at the lights and he fessed up. He just thought it was funny (which it was). Went on to explain that he took his three kids to school on it and then cycled into the city.
Good skills.
We have been looking at solutions for my wife to take the kids to school. (Eldest starts this Sept.) It's a bit far to walk, but I really don't want them to drive, and neither does she.
I was considering an electric MTB and a trailer, but then we found one of these locally, second hand:

The boys love riding in it. Ours needs new tyres and the brakes bleeding. It was a lot less that the £2,600 they list for new.

Cycled yesterday. Got a puncture in the rear tyre 300m from work, which turned out to be not ideal. Had a spare tube so swapped it out over lunch, but had been a bit blasé about the whole hub geared, carbon belt setup and found myself struggling to put everything back together, resulting in a rather awkward walk/ride home in 11th gear. Sorted now and feel a bit stupid now I know where I went wrong. Every day's a school day.
Have also added my mini pump to the bike as the single co2 canister didn't get me fully up to pressure. Nice to have the choice.
Hasn't put me off though. Riding in tomorrow.

Phone zombies. More phone zombies. Shared paths are the pits.
I'm just finding that sweet spot where I can make the zombie aware of my presence early enough that they've got time to hear me, stop, turn round (blocking the whole path as they do so, of course) then get out of the way before I have to slow down.
