Won’t be cycling for the next few days as bike is in getting fixed. 4000km of commuting in permanently wet Glasgow on salty roads and cycle lanes covered in mushy leaves has taken its toll and bike shop said that basically the entire drivetrain is knackered laugh. Needs a new bottom bracket too. I suppose that’s not too bad considering I’ve only replaced one set of brake pads and put two new tyres on it. Never even took it in for its 6 week free service after I bought it.

Hit the railway crossing a bit faster than usual yesterday, with a bit more weight in the panniers than I normally carry.

Result: instant ‘snakebite’ front flat and a bust spoke on the rear wheel.

I was not happy.

Had a work meal out last night so was looking forward to a traffic free ride home. Shame that half of the Atlantic Ocean came down on me during my ride

This morning was much more civil but a strong wind in Berkshire .... wind behind for once

Same here, I've got so used to having a head wind both morning and evening it was a refreshing change. The occasional sideways gust kept me awake though. biggrin

In Salford - wind dead ahead. I managed to get into 2nd gear a couple of times (only got 3, it's a Brompton) but couldn't manage 3rd! Got to work very wet ... As my colleague pointed out, the wind will change directions by 5pm!

Had a tailwind this morning, shaved 3 minutes off my 15-minute commute smile

I also managed to blag a new 2018 Genesis Day One 20 for £550 delivered which should see me through winter rather than my road bike. thumbup

Change in working hours means I'm commuting at rush hour so I figured I'd take the bike today. I forgot how much I enjoy commuting on the bike, so the idea is to start squeezing some extra miles in before work.

we've just had our onsite gym facilities closed, so that means bringing in towels and soap on a weekly basis and the horrid showers. Still its better than some have.

Manchester United V Paris St-Germain tonight. I'm really looking forward to cycling through the inevitable Armageddon later.

Left at 0657 to go the long way round to work.

Was pretty bloody chilly despite today supposedly being up to 18 deg. Arrived nice and ruddy faced.

I think I was the only one commuting into work today who had discovered the "rear mud guard".

Way too many brahs out there without!

Last day in my current job tomorrow and I need to take a few bits home, so my last 2 mile mtb commute is today.

The new job will mean a 13 mile cycle commute, once I move onto my proper shifts and have scoped out the bike facilities I'll be getting something more suited to the much longer commute!

Lovely day today - bit misty in Wigan, over in Salford the sun is shining and lovely blue sky. Not so many cars here either, I suspect the ice day has caused a few more to work from home? It's going to get cold again next week, but today is a day worth enjoying!

Cool but gloriously sunny here, I'd be tempted to take the long way home through the dunes but need to get home in good time today.

Weather turned in Birmingham today. Yesterday was sunny and breezy, today is raining and cold. Paired with a couple of dozy drivers, not my favourite ever cycle in.

It was not warm enough for bare legs this morning. I had cold legs.

Took my mudguards off after having them on over the winter, now hoping it's not going to rain too much as it's clouded over today! Been resisting doing it after the great weather we've been having in London over the past few weeks but now it's officially BST I've whipped them off.

I know I'm going to get much damper when it does actually rain but the bike feels so much faster without the guards although I'm sure it's all psychosomatic! Looks much smarter too.

Came in in Short Jersey and bibs yesterday, was fresh but pleasant. Lovely on the way home.

Came in 3/4 thermal bibs but still a SS Jersey today... was bastid cold. Hands/forearms were numb after 4 miles. Still, was glorious and will be lovely on the way back.
