Im looking at buying that same Tectal helmet, how do you find it?Comes in a little heavier than my previous helmet but the fit seems good and looks ok, comes with a MIPS system and Aerocore (claims to deal with impacts better than traditional material) £62 from Amazon seemed a good price than other cycle retailers who were charging £80+.

Not a bike bit..but bike related..
An Elite Direto smart trainer just arrived, I spent an hour or so getting it set up, then I logged on to the free Elite subscription and gingerly tried a couple of different modes. All seems pretty good so far...looking forward to a few training sessions!

I bought a couple of the std long sleeve jackets from Wiggle to try for size...all good.
Ordered a Perfetto Convertible from Sigma and it arrived today (ordered Thursday night, great!)
I thought the convertible was a gilet with zip-on sleeves, so for me two garments in one, long sleeve and gilet.
Not as it seems, it’s a short sleeve jersey with removal sleeves, so not what I’m after....
So I’ve ordered a long sleeve jacket from Wiggle in my preferred colour, also managed to find a £15 off voucher on line so bagged it for £125 delivered!

A few bits in the sales:
New bike tools, a pair of gloves, new commuter clip-in shoes.
Two new main changes though:
My girlfriend's Whyte 901, bought 2nd hand, had 780mm wide Renthal Carbon fat bars and a 34-tooth Raceface chainring. Neither of these suit her at all. So I bought a 30t raceface NW ring and banged it on. It took about 15mins to change, no hassle, everything worked really easy. Just one full link taken out of the chain to keep it tight.
The wide bars are now on my bike, as I am lanky and have been wanting to widen my cockpit (errr) for a while. My Renthal fat bar (Not carbon) cut to 720-ish is now on her bike. Everybody wins! Just had my first proper ride on the bike in the Peaks today and I do like the extra width.

Having been to Glentress for the second time ever 2 weeks ago with my mate (who let me ride his old MTB), I had a great time and was on the lookout for a new MTB as my 21 year old Halfords special weighs as much as a small family car
Being a roadie primarily, I had to run specs past a couple of mates who are into MTB but eventually I settled on the following:
Cube ACID 27.5
Managed to get my local Evans to price match the £125 discount on offer from Tredz so will pick it up in person in around 10-14 days - cannot wait to try it out on the trails!

Castelli Perfetto Convertible Jacket
Castelli Riparo Rain Jacket - Fluro Yellow
Castelli Difesa 2 Cap
Castelli Nanoflex Pro Padded Bib Tight
I think i am now prepared for most of what winter will throw my way, apart from a neck tube, however, need some new shoes and overshoes. Will wait until January sales on those.

Quite a big 'bit', the whole thing!
Just an excuse to post a picture! Not had a bike of any sorts for circa 15 years and having never had a road bike, my mate lent me his cheapy Btwin for a couple of month, really enjoyed riding it so bought this Cannondale Synapse Carbon Disc 105 at the end of August from Evans. Think I bought at just the right time as got £200 of free clothing on bikes over £1,500 at the time.
Managed to get the bike, shoes, cleats, pedals, bottle cage, 2 short sleeve jerseys, a long sleeve jersey, gloves and a jacket all for about £1,700!

...deep breath... an Elite Real Turbo Muin Smart B+. Not to be confused with an Elite Turbo Muin, an Elite Turbo Muin Smart B+, or an Elite Real Turbo Muin. Got it?
In other news, Elite naming conventions probably need a slight rethink.
Basically it's a controllable direct drive turbo trainer similar to a Wahoo KICKR and it was £405 brand new, so I couldn't say no. Much, much quieter than my old Tacx Flow roller-based turbo.
Still available here if anyone wants to invest. BC discount to bring the price down to £450, then pay with vouchers for £405. The eagle-eyed amongst you will note that it is wrongly listed as an Elite Real Turbo Muin, an old 2015 model without FE-C and BLE, which may have led to them under-valuing it.
