The "what bike bits have you just bought" thread Vol 2

I think they could be the way forward, don't think you could buckle one of those and easy to clean and a lifetime warranty perfect. These were around in the 90's and a bit before their time, maybe they might make a popular comeback.
I don't believe that the rims could be any stronger than a standard carbon rim, and people still break those. At least with a normal rim you can rebuild the wheel if this happens, which is my main issue with these. The hubs and internals are unproven, there's no way to true them if they get knocked out, the massive gap between 'supports' doesn't fill me with confidence about lateral stiffness either. Plus the width isn't exactly cutting edge. No way of be spending that sort of money on something narrower now I've experienced the advantages of wider rims and higher volume tyres.
Carbo tech has moved in a lot from the mid 90s, but I still think there's a reason nobody else is doing this.
A lifetime warranty is great and all, but I'm too cynical to trust it from a small company of unknown track record.
There's so much money to be made in the high end wheel market, I refuse to believe that none of the big players would have done this if it was a viable product.
For the cost of these you could get something like a set of DT XMC1200s which every review I've read races about, or something like the Santa Cruz Reserves with either DT or King hubs.
I know where my money would go.

Having just spent the winter increasing the distance I ride my mountain bike on the road (up to about 25 miles), I thought it was about time to join the dark side and buy one of those girly bikes with narrow tyres
Just placed an order for a heavily discounted Cube Attain SL Disc 2017.
I have one in white and really like it (I’m also a novice at this road biking lark!), had it about a year with very issues or problems.Just placed an order for a heavily discounted Cube Attain SL Disc 2017.
I’ve changed the wheels to carbon simply because I was offered some FOC from Mavic and currently I’m really happy with the setup.
I’ve just bought some shoe covers so I can keep my toes warm on these cold, cold days when I’m out and about on it
Although I agree with the need for gun control, there's no way I am getting rid of my Giro helmets and I'd buy another Giro helmet if I need one. They, the american politicians need to just get on with putting in some sort of effective gun control. There's so much guns out there in the States it'll take decades to start making inroads in reducing the amount of weapons on the streets.

No need to get rid of them, but committing not to purchase any more from their brands is one of the few things we can do directly to influence companies and negate hardcore lobbying in situations like this.Set of ksyrium elites for the winter bike.
Yes it might be overkill but I got a good deal and they make me actually want to go out on the bike whereas the original maddux wheels made me want to burn it.
Never been a great believer in wheels completely changing the experience but these certainly have done

It’s due to arrive on Monday so (weather permitting) I’ll get out for a good ride next weekend and will let you know how I get on. Please bare in mind that my only comparison is a Specialized Allez on Tiagra so I’m likely to be gushing with praise for the new one even if it’s not that great compared to other stuff in the same price bracket!keirik said:

DMR Deathgrips as I'm still on a quest to find some comfortable grips for my MTB.
Have you tried silicon grips?I was sceptical about them but an Aussie working in a local bike shop raved about them. I've got them on my Anthem now, and I forget they're there so they must be good!
You can stretch them thin, or not pull 'em so tight and have less length and more girth. Depends what your preference is. F'naar, f'naar...

New wheels after killing some DA hubs through neglect.
Kinlin XR31T 20h front, Kinlin XR31RT offset 24h rear, black Miche Primato hubs with Shimano/SRAM 11s road freehub, black Sapim D-Light spokes, silver alloy nipples.
For those looking at a PM I see RCE has two 9000 DA 53-36 SRM power meters, 175mm and 177.5mm. Newly refurbed.
