The "what bike bits have you just bought" thread Vol 2
Discussion
I seem to be in the wars lately.
Firstly, on TINAT at the beginning of June, this happened...

Which necessitated me riding 20 miles stood in the drops like this:

It was definitely my epic seated climbing power, and not too many pies, which caused this issue. Consequently I've had to invest in a more robust seatpost, an Easton EA70.
Then last night I decided to see how my MTB would look with one swept back bar.

Turns out it looks st. And it was quite a painful experiment too. My knee is more swollen and stiff than a priest in MotherCare. So I've got a replacement set of RaceFace bars on order too.
Surprisingly cheap, £66 for the both from Chain Reaction.

Haven't been comfortable with such a relatively upright/non-aero position on my Madone h2 fit bike compared to my race bike which is an Emonda SLR h1 fit and I had removed as much fork steer as possible ... or so I thought.
After some searching a considering a new frame, I went for a -17 degree stem and a Cane Creek 'slam set' top bearing which have brought the geometry in line to the mm with the Emonda. The bike feels so much better, so much more comfortable .... should have done this a while ago :-)

A new cassette for my hardtail, I already had a new chain, but when I went to fit it, I noticed the cassette was looking a bit worn. It had probably been on for 2 or 3 chains. Luckily Halfords had one available for click and collect. A bonus of still running 1x10 is that an SLX cassette was under £30. Shifting is now significantly smoother!

I've got the Classic shorts, anyone got real life experience of how different the fit is between Classic and Pro?

I've got Rapha Core and Lightweigt and went for the same size in Pro Team so we'll see, I'm expecting the straps to be a bit tighter over the shoulders. I've got the Classic shorts, anyone got real life experience of how different the fit is between Classic and Pro?
The Classic is cut a bit bigger alround and also a stretchier material so I guess it depends how they currently fit you?
Could always order the same size and a size up then return one?

Yeh for some reason it's not on the website if you search but someone on Bikeradar posted the direct link. I can only seem to get to it from your link...
I've ordered a pair with a mate to get free delivery and we've had dispatch email so seems legit!

I spoke too soon! The bike was much better on a short spin around the block, but when I got out for a proper ride it was creaking a lot under power. I expect that it is the chainring, rather than the bottom bracket, so I have ordered a new chainring from uberbike. It was dispatched this morning, so hopefully it will arrive tomorrow or Saturday, so I can fit a ride in over the weekend. Not strictly bought, but just spent a lot of money getting the suspension on my other bike serviced/tuned at Fox. Including custom valving to hopefully give more support and reduce pedal strikes.

I think this is a much neater solution than zip ties, so bought one for each bike.

Forgot to update post receipt of the shorts.
They're exactly the same length as my Rapha Core & Lightweight (and Altura ProGel commuters), fit me really well, bargain for £72!
I bagged a pair as well, have two other pairs of Pro Team shorts and also some Rapha team kit .... they're slightly shorter certainly not 30mm. But yes cracking deal! They're exactly the same length as my Rapha Core & Lightweight (and Altura ProGel commuters), fit me really well, bargain for £72!
An expensive few weeks for me. I went to get my wheels trued. Not expensive. But a spoke broke on the ride immediately after. Which showed a crack in my front wheel, so I got a new wheel. Not an expensive wheelset, but still £40.
A couple of days later, I'm riding in the city centre and I had a breakdown. Of course, it's in a section of road that's contraflow (in a very urban manner, 30 mph, opposite direction closed, single carriageway). But there's still barriers to both sides of me. Fortunately, the one on the right is low and there's a pavement the other side, so I managed to pull over, hop over, and haul my bike over.
The above was caused by a snapped derailleur hanger. The chain was hopelessly bent in places, the rear derailleur bent too much too. On further inspection, the cassette was worn, and the chainring was a recommended replacement. Despite this, I was able to fixieise the bike into gear 2-4 to get home, although spinning at 10 mph was... a little lethargic.
On the quote, they were going to put on another 42/32/22 chainring, but I got them to do a 48/38/28, which'll be much more suited to my largely road focused riding.
