I bought the ones that Aldi did the other week. The Cree LED rechargeable numbers, they are very acceptable, on full whack they’re as bright as my Halogen car lights, and only cost 15 quid for the front and rear. I got a couple of sets, sticking both the fronts on at full whack has lit up some ‘can’t see your hand in front of your face’ dark country lanes very nicely, and I got about 4 hours from a full charge ( albeit not on full for the entire time).
I did the same, amazing for the money. Thought i'd liven up the place with a little update from last week.
Had Nora the Cookie monster Cyclewraped and my god it's glossy, and amazingly finished.
I also got round to fitting the Sunrace 12speed upgrade git to the hippie wagon. should be faster still through the winter.
Just need to get round to building the wheels

Thanks for the reply, which larger rear light are you referring to? as the only ones on the LIDL website are the front/rear set and this one.
For comparison my light set up is as follows.
Front:. this topeak front light
Rear: lezyne femto rear
both do the job that i need it for (to be seen) and are easy to put on/off and throw in your bag. But part of me wants to be frivilous and buy something else and use those as backups that i always keep in my bag. Either something much better, or something i can permanently attach and not worry about.
Yes, the larger rear light is the one in your link. It's about 50% bigger (at least) than the one in the two-light set. Brightness is about the same, I think, but being bigger I'd imagine that the battery lasts longer. Can't swear to it though, as it's my son who is using them, and he's not really into logging (even mental notes) how long a charge lasts. He just charges them and uses them to commute to work as needed. For comparison my light set up is as follows.

My own lights are a complete mish-mash really. So many rear lights, a mix of dirt cheap (think pound-shop) battery lights, some of the previous generation of Aldi/Lidl lights (knock-off Moon Comet lights, I think) and some Cateye stuff that I can no longer use because the bracket was stolen from my younger son's bike along with his seat post and saddle!
My advice would be to buy the best lights you can afford straight off. I've had a lot of buyers' remorse over the years, and "bought cheap, bought twice (or more)" a few times. I still find myself looking for a bargain, though. And still get caught out buying crap lights for my own bike occasionally. But the current generation of Bikemate lights at Aldi seem to be really rather good, especially as they don't cost very much at all in the grand scheme of things...

Ordered one of thelse when I was bored and fanciful during the early hours, been hankering after a hardtail/ second bike for a while. The plan is to build it up over time into a monster using eBay bargains so I doubt it will be rolling for a little while.
Good move! What forks are you going to run ? IME for a big hitting HT you can't go lower than say a 160mm Yari, that's what I ran on the Commy Meta HT. But they are quite cheap now anyway.ar-em-en said:
Thanks mate, they'll be decent forks but second hand from eBay or wherever. They will be fox or rockshox. I'm not too up on the models beyond 36 being the thicker longer travel one so would be very chuffed with any suggestions? Im drawing the line in my head at 150-160mm travel?
Yari 160mm is your best bet. They are 35mm and have a Lyric chassis. Superb VFM on eBay for a 1 or 2 year old.So I ended up buying the £14,99 light set from Aldi mentioned above.... just wow, I think I'm now blind! Both the front and rear are ridiculously bright. My only real concern is the strength of these mounts. My fear is snapping the rubber straps when i extend it round to try and attach them to my bike, even though they fit on relatively easily.
These are so bright I don't think I'll use them on any of the flashing modes as I think it would be too dazzling, especially the strobe which is just mental, will stick to constant beam.

The strobe is proper epileptic fit inducing! I have it on flashing for daytime/dusk.These are so bright I don't think I'll use them on any of the flashing modes as I think it would be too dazzling, especially the strobe which is just mental, will stick to constant beam.
New bits for me - a PNW loam lever to replace the awful brand X dropper lever that came with the bike.
So much better, 100x lighter action, the brand X lever took a proper shove to push it, and you can see the marks where the clamp was slowly rotating on the bars
Also spent 10 minutes scratching my head as to why the dropper wasn't returning fully after fitting the new lever. Checked the pressure and it was under 150psi, should be 230-250psi!! That'll do it... Post is now back to full speed
Not part of PH I frequent that often but I thought you guys n girls may be interested.
Been running and riding my 1977 Raleigh Chopper for the last couple of years but on our last ride out the gears started slipping so last night one of the more techy guru types from the Chopper club stripped down and rebuilt the Sturmey Archer 3 Speed hub and replaced a few cables, banished a few errant non raleigh parts etc that had made their way onto the bike over the last few decades..The unit itslef was very simple inside, I expected it to be packed with springs and bearings which it wasnt at all..As you would expect this gents house was full of Choppers, Grifters and other older Raleighs...fab..
Was a proper geeky evening and I loved it! She rides as smooth as ever now....apologies for crap pics...
