Picked up some cheap Mavic Cosmic UST today. I want to use the bike, but not enjoying the 65mm aero wheels in this weather! These were £350, so I can crack on and not worry about breaking the wheels..

Nice!

Are the stickers removable?

Imho if it were mine, I’d remove them to maintain the red/black colour scheme....

Removable for sure, just whether I can be assed. Bound to make a mess...

I quite like the cosmic logo though, might be better in a grey.

Well I had a nightmare earlier! Bike shop fitted the wireless unit (need to take the bottom bracket out to do it.... Unless you attach it to the junction box, but that'd look naff) and all was working fine.

Get back home, plug into laptop and it says to update the firmware for the wireless unit.... But it can only be done via Bluetooth, so I had to use my phone (quite why it can't be done via USB I've no idea!).

It was installing the update and theny phone Bluetooth stopped..... And yep, it fked the update up. Not only that.... It sent the whole di2 system off.... So it wouldn't do ANYTHING. It wouldn't change gear, it wouldn't even recognise anything on the laptop except the wireless unit and the junction box.

Pressing the junction box button did nothing (no lights.... Nothing, was dead as a dodo!). I was panicking because I couldn't reset the firmware of the wireless unit on the laptop and my phone wouldn't recognise the wireless unit to reset it either!

Quickly rushed back to bike shop who had to remove the bottom bracket, remove the unit, individually unplug everything and plug it back in again and it was then all working! Then plugged the wireless unit back in, tried updating andy phone said firmware error, please update..... This time the update worked.

I now have working gears again and a working, updated wireless unit! Was a right mare! Set the hood buttons to change screen on my garmin which is pretty cool, and also got the di2 battery level displayed on my garmin. By the looks of it it does it in 10% increments, as it was showing 90% but after some use it dropped to 80.

They say it should last approx 1k miles between charges. So one could assume 100 miles per 10% charge.... So when it gets to 20% maybe use it for another ride or so and then charge. Saves faffing about looking under the stem when you want to check it.

Phew!

Sounds like a nightmare! You ever gonna get out and actually ride this bloody bike?

Possibly tomorrow.... Although we've got 40mph winds forecast! I'm thinking it may be wise to ride my old bike first to see how I go with regards to my recently fractured clavicle!

Christ, what an utter waste of time and effort. It takes almost no effort to hold the shifter and get one of the 4 warnings!

Well it wouldn't have been if the update didn't fail. It would have been about a 20min job otherwise. I'm not just buying it for the battery level but it's quite a common problem with the edge 1000 for the screen to lock.... Using this wireless unit I've now set my top hood buttons to scroll left or right on my garmin screens, so that won't be an issue any more which is handy!

It was a nightmare, only because of the failed update. Otherwise it's not too complex, and the fact that there are a couple of useful features (for me) means I'm glad I have it. You may not see the point but I do. And that's what matters.

Rode it outside today.... fk me is it slick! So much faster than my other bike! Love it!

Knee fore/aft is now spot on. There is still scope for moving the saddle further forward, but I don't think it's really required. The reach to hoods and drops is absolutely spot on and feels just so "right".

The saddle is not pointing down.... The shape of the saddle tilts up a bit near the nose, so having the rails the same angle as the last saddle meant it was tilted up by about 6 degrees, it's now tilted up just 1-2 degrees which is absolutely fine.

It wasn't seized as such.... Just needed a bit of a shove.... Something I wasn't willing to risk smile

Definitely not a size issue. Canyon recommended a frame size bigger. Based on my stats, but bike fitter recommended smaller size..... Glad we did, it now feels absolutely perfect!
Could I ask what size the bike is (looks to be either XS or XXS ?) and if it isn't to much trouble could I ask how tall you are and what your inseam is.
I am in between sizes and I am not concerned with the reach but I would like to get an idea as to how much lower the bars will be.
Thanks in advance.

I'm 166cm and it's size 2xs. Canyon site recommended XS but very glad I didn't. Not sure on my inseam off the top of my head I'm afraid.

Thanks very much for the quick reply. I am166cm as well and Canyon recommends 2xs but I believe that is because of my inseam. If I put my same measurements in for an Ultimate they recommend xs?
Would you happen to know what your saddle height is set at?
Thanks again.

I'm not sure 100% on saddle height and wouldn't like to give a rough estimate, I'm seeing my bike fitter again (for a ride!) on Friday so I'll ask him then if I remember.

As a general rule, of you're in between 2xs and XS, I'd go for smaller.

Don't you own a tape measure? Just measure from centre of BB to the top of the saddle, along the central line of the seat tube...

Haha, sorry for being a flirt. I will let you both know if I decide to, just think I might be being rash.

[eyes emoji] I only ready half the thread, got to Rob's post and was interested immediately.

There is the perfect one for sale on ebay at the mo, 9000, DI2, Red, med.........no wheels, £3400. I offered £3k and he turned it down!
