It's my birthday on the 23rd and no1 son has swimming, I may do L'Etape London on Sunday. Gruffly you doing box hill sportive this year? I knows it's not your normal fodder but you did it last year didn't you? That's the 8th Oct if anyone is interested in that option, if I get a pass I would rather be doing at least 120km.

I'm in in principle. Going to have to sort out freeing up the date closer to the day, and I'd have to drive over from Farnborough so parking at or near the meeting point would be nice.

As for the hills? Lovely! Count me in. You'll be waiting at the tops for me, but I've long wanted to do a couple more of the "100 Climbs" hills and this sounds like the ideal opportunity to combine a few of them with meeting some more PHers too. "Cool! Double prizes!"

biggrin
If I can make it we could car share, can easily get three bikes in the old Accord Tourer!
I see from your other post that this may be a non-starter, but if you're going to make it, I'd appreciate the car share offer, thanks!

I've mucked up my dates so unless I destroy no.1 sons first beavers camp and my wife's half marathon plans I can't do it.

Now thinking about the weekend of Sept 2nd/3rd

It's become an anniversary ride with a training buddy I met on it a couple of years ago. I'd quite like to ride it again but that's pencilled in as moving weekend so it's unlikely now. I may ride the route separately though.

I could do Sunday 3rd but would have to be an afternoon ride as wife is on nights.

Alex I may be up for that as I am shown off work for that day - wife's shifts dependant of course. I am sure I could jump on towards the start somewhere. Think I did that a few years ago does it start at Sandown?

I'm definitely up for this. I just have to build a couple of climbing legs before then..

I did a route through Kent a few years ago and loved it. I've always been meaning go back.

It'll be good to see a few of you that I see every year or 2 at the Dun Run. smile

My wife is 'on call' at work the weekend of the 2nd/3rd September. It's not a definite "NO!", but it does make things a little more difficult logistically, and harder to justify.

They shifted the start to Cranleigh for last year and I think this year is the same.

Weekend after we get back from a weeks touring holiday, I'll either be fitter or not wanting to even look at a bike wink

I have done a couple of those hills as based in Biggin Hill so fairly local and difficult to get home from the south without going up one of them (usually Ide for me). You may also want to consider Brasted Hill or Sundridge Hill to get up the escarpment and maybe somewhere like the airport café as a finish for a drink and watch the 2 seat Spitfire takeoff and land.

Cannot make the 2nd September but if the date changes then I might be able to join you guys for all or part of the route. Could make an October weekend though.

I rode a few more of these hill this morning, just checking they are still steep enough for you. smile

The road surface is a let down on Whites Hill as with Yorks, you would find it easier on a 29er with 32mm tyres.

I came back up the steeper part of beddlestad, up to 15-16% and then flattens to 11% at the finish, far too tame to even be considered for the "hill smash".

I mentioned it earlier and BtP above mentioned Sundridge, one of my favourites, it goes up, hurts, flattens a touch and then goes up more, asking if you have anything left. The usual answer! rolleyes

Been away and initially missed this (thanks to CoolC for shouting it up offline). Great idea, and the sort of thing I'd normally be up for but I'll be travelling out the weekend of 2/3rd Sept for a bikepacking thing. Shame, would have been perfect prep were it the weekend before biggrin. Never mind, have fun, and count me in next time if you do it again!

I'll also have to miss the 2/3 Sept as I'll be out of town. Racing on the 9th and then Revolve24 the following weekend, so I'm probably going to struggle whatever the date was. If there's a repeat another time though, I'm keen.

Since 2nd/3rd seems to be problematic for many and quite close. Can we gauge interest in the 30th Sept/1st Oct weekend then?

I am going to a wedding Friday the 29th and then birthday on the 30th. Maybe free on the Sunday. This is between two other cycling weekends so potentially doubtful.

I think we should fix a few dates for next year via a sticky which should allow more people to plan things a bit better!
