Finally got round to watching this

https://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episode/b09glhsh/bri...

I have to ask this. Is there anything at all that the BBC wouldn't / couldn't criticise?

Was pretty nothing-ey tbh.

Initial thoughts were that in 08 British Cycling really didn't care about Womens Road Race or Womens TT. Nicole Cooke won IN SPITE of BC, not because of anything they did. IIRC They told her to back another rider (Laws?) Same with Emma Pooley and her TT win. Bare minimum

Shane Sutton didn't (despite the pre showing media) admit that they used TUEs for their riders
Brailsford didn't dig any holes. But be under no illusion he wants to win everything all the time.

The controversy about Suttons comments were to be expected. I don't doubt he said some rough things. And some riders will accept it and move on and some will not like it. As the lady said at the end. Hes a great coach, but shouldn't have been put in the job role he was since he's not suited to that side of coaching.

No word from Pendleton, Hoy, Trott(Kenny) etc or anyone currently in the World Class Programme

It's clear (imo I should add) that Wiggins/Sky did "game the system" So to me it's unethical, but legal.

In fairness the WADA/ TUE system should be overhauled. So you have to sit out competition for 6-10 weeks AFTER the end of whatever treatment it is. But the TUE means that if you are random tested you won't be counted as a fail .

The jiffy bag will never be proven each way until the Dr tells. And I doubt he ever will

British Cycling are only really interested in Track and Road; the other disciplines are treated shamefully. Any success in MTB, CX, etc has very little to do with them; and we have some promising youngsters in those disciplines......

I'm actually thinking of ending my membership when it is up for renewal.

I agree to an extent.

Problem is that the Lotto funding is dished out on a "likely to win a medal a the Olympics" criteria so they channel their efforts towards that. Hence why we get a bit more interest in BMX racing in the last couple Olympic cycles.

As you say MTB is overlooked

I didn't renew mine for this reason. I just don't see what they do for mountain bikers.
