Doing day 3 of the Tour of Wessex then this http://www.tourdeljuguete.com/en/home the following week. Hopefully good training for the etape du tour.
Isn't the Marmotte on the same day? Going to busy in that part of the Alps!

Did the SWRC May Flower this weekend, great organisation from the club and top marshals at some busy junctions.

Anyone doing the King of the Downs?

First sportive a couple of weekends ago, the Fred. Absolutely awesome. Great weather, thousands out supporting and fantastic scenery. Even managed Hardknott so was well chuffed. What to try next year? Possibly Etape du Dales or the Fred again....

Worryingly, my name is on the start list for this at the weekend - https://velo29events.com/sportives/yorkshire-beast...

Going into it with a "see how far I can get" attitude and we shall see.

Anyone else entered?

Was going to do Le Tour De Sandwich on the 10th June but my dad extended his holiday over that weekend so we're going to do the Evans Medway Sportive instead. Planning on doing the 82 mile route. The start line is ~5 miles from my house so will be over 90 miles for the whole day once I'm home. Just hoping my back is up to it. Did 69 miles last weekend (longest ride I've done) at 17.2mph average speed, felt fit enough but my lower back was getting pretty sore. Need to crack on with the core strength stuff.

Good luck. I saw that and decided The Struggle was easier!

How did you get on?

The Struggle was, well, a struggle in the combination of heat and seemingly ever-present headwind. I made it up all the climbs and finished within a 'Bronze' time of 8.5 hours though, so all in all I'm happy.

I’ve got the Wiggle Sussex Gran Fondo tomorrow. 122 miles and just over 2000m of elevation. I entered as I wanted to crack a 100 mile ride this year. Not quite sure why I entered an event that was 20% further than that.

I’ve prepped well this week by eating plenty of crisps, chocolate and then a KFC yesterday. I think it’s going to be a very long day in the saddle.

Well, 122 miles of riding actually wasn’t that bad but picking up two punctures was annoying, as was my slightly moany riding partner who kept dropping off my wheel at the slightest suggestion of a hill.

Wiggle seem to like to select some interesting roads for their routes though. Certain sections would have been better tackled on a gravel bike.

Smuggler sportive done, just the most stunning route and savage climbs, well worth it if you are in the west country

Just became free and a mate of mine is doing it so I tried to sign up today. Apparently it's closed for advance sign-up but you can register on the day so I'll be there. Unless it's raining cool (the beauty of on the day sign-up!).

Not bad, think my favourite sections are the decent to simonsbath, and the road from porlock to lynmouth is brilliant. So quiet too.

Got Velothon in a few weeks, week in Cornwall on holiday before eating pasties and ice cream probably isn't the best prep.

Only other thing booked at the moment is the Colnago Owner's Ride in August, Yanto Barker and Sir Bradley Wiggins are on the entry list.
