Have you arranged to take it back (or even somewhere else)for the correct software to go on ?
Reflashed the firmware. The GF's bike also requested an upgraded to the Walk+ feature apparently.
Both now with EMTB and 85nm torque.

Sun is out, but blowing like fk up here on the moors.... still hope to get out !

Glad you got it sorted. Hoping to get out on ours at the weekend . . . wonder how far Blakey is from here . .

(Edit - about 22 miles each way)

Little runs out for me in the next few days. These dark mornings - and grotty weather really do not help, plus work load. Eying up a route from Osmotherley (home) to Whitby in the near future.

The answer to "Electric bicycles - who buys them?" as I found out on Saturday, is as follows...

... an elderly couple wearing thick coats and fluro vests absolutely flew past my mates and I as we spun up this 17% hill in our granny rings on our non-electric bikes.

Honestly they went past like we were stationary (we basically were) and then dissapeared out of sight! Fair play to them, without the eBikes, they'd be pretty stuck as everything is super hilly in all directions

I think E-MTB's have also evolved to the point where people like me having spent most of my life on Moto-X and trial bikes who had previously said 'sod riding anything on two wheels without an engine' are re-thinking that idea.
Just recently I was making reasonable progress on a down-hill section at the QE Park when bunch of gentlemen pushing their non E-MTB's up the section commented 'oh look there's one of those E-MTB's' as I was concentrating hard so as not to fall off in front of them I said to myself yes mate I just rode up that section without breaking into a sweat.

That's the nail on the head. You can now engage in a technical climb which adds more skill to the experience. I'm off out now in the rain! Up to Geirionydd and back through the woods. it is great riding on pine needles and spraying them out behind you on the turns! Plus, if I take a tumble the landing is less of an impact!

Yes climbing is now fun, I actually sometimes have to brake uphill and be on the limit of lateral grip on tight stuff. It's now all downhill even if some of it goes up.

We were out on a hike in the local county park here in CA at the weekend. We stopped at a bench at the top of a hill where multiple trails met. We were raised about 10ft above the trail which was heavily used by bikes. Saw two guys come past on eMTBs up the trail peddling normally and off up a steep section, again peddling normally. I took notice, but didn't think too much of it. Then 2 minutes later two guys on normal MTBs were visibly struggling in granny gear going past us and then on the steep section were really struggling, going side to side to make it less steep - really showed the difference!

I would say at least 50% of the bikes on the trail were eMTB here.

Can't wait for my eBike (road) to arrive, I'll post when it does, should only be a few more weeks...

Spanish made. I know someone who has an Orbea, she has just got it back, again, from the dealer.

I understand the battery cannot be removed for charging.

I am not sure they are made is Spain, not that it would make any difference.
Anecdotal evidence is rarely conclusive. What was wrong with her Orbea?
I see plenty on the trails and people seem to rate them.

We regularly ride the High Peak Trail in the peak district ( http://www.cycleroutes.info/5-top-cycle-routes-in-... ), starting at Cromford, and riding along the trail up to Parsley Hay and back. There are several really pretty steep climbs, the first of which is called the Sheep Pasture Incline. Several hundred yards, loose surface, 1 in 8 gradient. I wouldn't even entertain it on a non electric bike, but on the EMTB it's a breeze! Last time as I got to the top, a chap coming the other way looked most surprised as I wasn't absolutely knackered, once he realised my bike was electric, he laughed and said "I was just going to say, you must be bloody fit!" biggrin

The trail is a climb most of the way up to Parsley Hay, the only downside if it's busy is that you're constantly catching other cyclists up. No battery power required for most of the way back as you're doing 16+mph, it's great fun.

Great bikes. Yes - they’re Spanish from Bilbao / Santander area (so very handy for SW England via the ferry to Plymouth)....
You are right - the battery is charged in situ - but, of course, can be removed if necessary.

260 commuting KMs on mine this week, it’s been awesome. Thank goodness for Gore-Tex and mudguards though.

Although I can only claim about 8 miles this week leisure only, I certainly agree with your statement about Gore-Tex and mudguards.
I've just purchased a pair of Gore-Tex walking gaiters and combined with my Gore-Tex boots when out in the wet this week had dry warm feet regardless. Don't have a muddy back or back of head/helmet with the mudguards.

I like the idea of this new breed of Emtb's with similar weight to a non E bike.
A lot of riders are quite fit and like the challenge of riding a route. Something that takes a bit of the strain seems like a great idea
while retaining the agility and feel of a normal bike.
One a long day out you dont want to think you are now lugging dead weight around after the battery goes flat.
