Electric bikes are great equalisers. For example a professional cyclist can go out for a ride with his pregnant wife:

And suffer on the hills even!

I've recently ordered the new Haibike AllMtn 7, it's hard to beat for value for money. I've owned an older Haibike before and loved the Yamaha motor so it's nice to see they're using it again.

260 commuting KMs on mine this week, it’s been awesome. Thank goodness for Gore-Tex and mudguards though.
Loving my eBike for commuting, only did 50km this week though, mudguards are life savers in the rain!

Great video on just how hard riding an eBike can be, I feel as knackered after riding mine as I do my road bike, but for commuting I sit back at sub 15.5mph so the motor can do most of the work on the way which avoids need for a shower on arrival.

Do you really think that if we are talking about value for money - then the Haibike at £5,599.00

https://www.e-bikeshop.co.uk/Haibike-AllMtn-7-2021...

is better value than the Oxygen MTB at £1,649.00?

OK, I'll rephrase that. Compared to a Specialized or most of the big brands fitted with the same suspension and wheels etc then the Haibike in comparison is good value for money.

You do realise that one is full suspension and built to take some punishment and the other is a low rent bike that won’t last very long. Yes they are both good value at their price points but not comparable apart from them both having two wheels.

For the record - as they say.

I have the CB version of the Oxygen MTB. I bought it just short of six years ago. The bike and I are still good friends.

I think - not to put too fine a point on it - that you don't know what you are talking about and are making a sweeping generalisation.

In fairness you are comparing apples to oranges with no real justification for doing so other than 'this bike is cheaper'. You seem a bit clueless as to where the money goes.

I think the gist of this post is correct, although some may bruise from it.
I would say for pottering around - yes the Oxygen is great value for money compared to the Haibike, sticking to tow paths etc perhaps. Beyond that, and giving either a year of descents and alike the attrition rate (damage?) the Oxygen would receive would be considerable.

Eh? One’s a high-grade fully, the other is a low(er) grade hardtail with a hub motor.

Apples, oranges etc etc

For the record my 'quibble' was the phrase

"it's hard to beat for value for money."

We may well be comparing different varieties of citrus fruit, but I find it hard to say that an E- MTB at £5,600 can be "value for money".

If we disagree then we are just going to have to agree to disagree.

If the Oxygen can't do what the Haibike can (and for me it definetely couldn't and I can guarantee I would destroy it within 1 hour of using it) then it is terrible VFM compared to a bike that can satisfy the brief, even at 3 times the price.

Value for money.
I have a Cannondale synapse e- road bike with Bosch drive.
Compared to my mates Specialized it’s very good value for money in my mind.
£3500 vs £4500 but he’s happy it’s what he wanted.
To my mind the Oxygen is a £400 bike fitted with a motor. Sorry but that’s how I see it.

As they say, buy best, buy once.
But horses for courses may apply?
I've hammered my Bergamont eMTB over the past 2 odd years and it keeps on giving. At the time I thought £3k was a hefty sum. Now it seems like a bargain.

Agreed and that price - but as above, I reckon the oxygen would be fit for only towpaths ..... can’t see it taking much Mountain Biking - as advertised

and if the Oxygen does what it's owner wants - then fine biggrin

that is why there is a great choice of bike.

I would suggest he checks there is any grease in the headset. Mine had none whatsoever.
