Electric bicycles - who buys them?

I’ve looked at Frey a number of times but by the time you’ve imported one you can get something half decent from one of the big manufacturers, admittedly not with the Bafang M600 motor but spending that amount of money I’d want proper backup.
M620 now (ultra)Get what youre saying, it is difficult in uk, proper back up where i am, from frey and bafang.

Apparently back with another 2 models this year. Probably a price increase though if any of the others are to go on.
^^What he said. I reckon they will be great value whatever they do, I've just started getting out again since the ground has firmed up from the cold weather and I am loving mine.It doesn't stop me window shopping for something a bit faster/playful mind to add to the collection.

Just saw this on Twitter - Tomorrow’s World piece on electric bikes from 1985 - absolutely fascinating

Picked up a Ridgeback Arcus Ebike today for my small 12k round trip commute. So far the large 1km hill leading to my house on the way home was a breeze, love the bike, not the best out there but looks ok and does what is needed.
The digital read out is in KM and the instructions dont show how to change to MPH. Would any one have a clue how to change it? This is not a big deal if I cannot change it.
Also cycling home the digital read out showed the trip as 8.9km, strava showed it as 6.67km and when I plot it on mapmyrun it is 6.7km. So the computer is way out. Again the instructions dont deal with calibration or anything like that. Any help getting it nearer to accurate would be grate?
The computer is the Sports Drive Compact.
Thanks

WTF! I have been mulling over upgrading my existing eMTB - currently I have a 2019 Haibike Sduro Fullnine 5.0 - it's a great bike but it has quite high gearing (easily fixed) but only 100mm of suspension and (the kicker) quite a high stepover. When I got it I didn't envisage I'd fall in with the bike crew I am with and end up riding quite as hard, fast or jumping.
So I thought I'll get the bike I should have got.
NOTHING in stock, anywhere. Rutland wouldn't even let me put a deposit on one!
I'm after a Cube Stereo 160 HPC SL625 in an XL grey - can't get them - can't get ANYTHING!
There were some YT Decoy Pros but they're £4999 plus 6% import duty, which is a step too far.
I'm not in a mega rush, I guess the furloughed masses who have bought all this gear will be needing to get rid at some point?
I'm still a bit flabbergasted tbh.

There are no duties AFAIK, we got a deal with the EU.Perhaps they are additional administrative/logistical costs though ?
The YT is still superb VFM even with 6% added.
Edit - I am wrong of course as they're not made in the EU - BUT that's mad as it's double taxation as YT already paid duties to get them in the EU. YT UK should start importing them direct in containers...

Its a stunning bike. The barrier for me is the battery though - the Cube is a 625Wh. Which is awesome.Perhaps they are additional administrative/logistical costs though ?

A fair point - I have the Base on the 540 battery and I wish I had a bit more indeed...
I've got 500Wh on my Haibike, and to be fair I've never run out (although a 50 mile beer drinking tour in the Ardennes in 2019 ran it to about 20%, the OHs 400Wh Cube just got back). The acid test for me is "can I do the Mary Townley Loop" (which goes past my house) in one hit - it's 47 miles.
However if I'm going to upgrade I should go for the biggest I can get.
I'm still hemming and hawing about the YT however.

Look at the Canyon Spectral On 2021. They start at £4,600 for an EP8 with 630wh. Not sure if they add duties though or if any stock. There is one for £5k too. The acid test for me is "can I do the Mary Townley Loop" (which goes past my house) in one hit - it's 47 miles.

Coming March 2021, it says - I've clicked "notify me"https://www.canyon.com/en-gb/electric-bikes/electr...
I like the "mullet" setup on that.
Due to a change in circumstances I'm going to be selling my Orbea Gain on shortly. I'm leaving my current job and could do with the cash as I'm starting up a new business.
Anyway, if anyone is interested in an e road bike, basically as new (has done about 30km) feel free to PM me.
Hopefully in a year or so and after a good first year I'll be able to get another e bike!!
Cheers all

Hi mate, if you click on my name to the left of my post, it should take you through to my profile and then it says 'E-mail me' to the right hand side.thanks!
It's a D50 2020 model in white. It was new to me in September 2020 and like I say, it's not seen much use.
