Electric bicycles - who buys them?

Just been round the hill with a PH'er who posts on here....
He had a better ride than me and my so called tubeless puncture-free set up, but will wait to see if he 'gets what all the fuss is about with E-bikes'
and what colour he picks
Yup, definitely get it, huge grin flying up and down hill and ploughing through anything! The 29er thing is new to me as well so physically a completely different experience. Sometime in the future I will get an E bike, keeping options open at the moment as to whether that will be the next MTB I buy or whether it'll be another unassisted one
Thanks for the input.
When I say ,wet,I mean really wet.
Assistance modes would change on their own which was sorted by cling film but biggest problem was water and fine silt getting in around the lock mechanism and finding its way down the battery tube and motor.
Cannot fault my LBS customer service though,I have been given a replacement whilst the problem is being investigated.
Just seems to me to be poorly designed seals.
Shame as I actually enjoy being out in crap weather,it is scotland in the autumn after all.

It sounds like Fazua probably didn't design/test the system for UK rain!
I've not had any issues, but I also tend to take the car if its pouring down with rain all day.
How reliable are motors in the wet? Having read around the subject it seems there are some criticisms regarding the weatherproofing, cable positioning etc. I've not had any issues, but I also tend to take the car if its pouring down with rain all day.

I've not had issues, but others who seem to ride in the wet a lot more have had issues. I've done coming up to 2k km is mine now since Feb this year. Absolutely love it as a commuter tool versus driving, you simply miss so much when driving. Stopped for 5 minutes today on the way home just to take in the sunset. These eBikes really shouldn't be compared to normal bikes, more as replacement for cars.

Few k miles on my Bergamont and never an issue with rain, moisture or puddles. Bear in mind mine is a 2018 and very much a 'visible' battery. The Bosch motor has been through puddles that submerge it on a good few occasions, although I've been stressed doing it!
Perhaps the newer stuff is less well thought out?
Still chuffed with mine. Love it!
After a long 7 month wait (Indiegogo), my FLX Babymaker Pro finally arrived yesterday. Carbon Gates belt drive, single speed, disc brakes, 350W hub motor. Took it out for a quick 13 mile test ride today. Level 3 assist at 15mph is about the most comfortable. Pleased with the look. (Yes, I know it’s a silly name)

With saddle at that angle, you clearly have mahoosive balls so the name seems quite apt. shady lee said:
After abit of advice, hypertheticly* If I wanted to change my 9 speed cube acid 400 to a 11 or 12 speed what would be involved?
New "groupset"? Hanger, shifter etc?
Don’t do it. Mid drives like to eat chains and cassettes at the best of times. The 11/12 speed group sets use a thinner chain so it will be even worse. New "groupset"? Hanger, shifter etc?

That's what I thought. But that's not the reality, it's a myth from my experience based on SLX 12. After 2,000 miles on a Decoy the chain is still not on 0.70 wear and the cassette looks great. I don't understand why but wear is a non issue so far compared to acoustic.nickfrog said:

I'd suggest us ebikers have better gear management available? My bike is 9 at the arse and 5 on the button. Thus 45 gears. Plus the motor brain reacts quicker than the human brain to leg reaction and then add in the finger to change gear! A bit like an auto box on a car won't let you fubar things? If that makes sense?
I didn't think of it like that but it makes sense.Gassing Station | Pedal Powered | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
