Ebike with battery integral to frame - roofrack options
Discussion
PH is the font of all knowledge, so hopefully someone will have a suggestion....
Currently for transporting my bikes I have a Thule wingbar set and a pair of Thule Proride 591s which work great....
However I've just bought a pair of Cube e-MTBs for me and Mrs DS and they are like this....
Although with the batteries out the weight is OK I don't think the jaws of the racks are going to be big enough to get around the frame tube (the bikes are still on their way so I am not 100% certain, but I really doubt it).
A towbar is out of the question as is one of those things that rests on your paintwork on the boot. Dismantling the bikes and putting them in the boot won't work either - the aperture is poor and the boot very shallow.
I know Thule do a 561 "Outride" which are roof racks that hold the bike by the front fork spindle and you remove the front wheel. Has anyone any experience with this or similar? Are they stable and secure? Or alternative to Thule (ie. something that will attach to my existing rack).
Cheers all!

Check out the Yakima Front Loader, which may be an option. It holds the bike by the front wheel mainly, plus back wheel, so has no direct clamp on the frame.
It is worth checking the weight of the bikes though, to make sure you are happy to be lifting them on to the roof, and that the roof bars etc can take them okay. The last thing you want to do is have a great ride then do your back in getting the bikes on to the car. Most e-bike owners tend to go the tow-bar mounted route from what I've seen.

Quick google suggests those cube ebikes are around 22-24kg. Yakima front loader only ok for bikes up to 18kg apparently:

thule 561 only supports up to 17kg:

I think towbar might be the way to go here, those ebikes are heavy lumps!

Lifting 20kg bikes is no problem at all. The bike is under 20kg without the battery incidentally which is in spec for the current carriers (they're rated 20kg), it's the frame size that is the issue.
Unfortunately the towbar is 100% not possible.
Price I am paying for the natty battery in frame design.
Edit: that Yakima rack looks the business - shame about the 18kg. Some chacking and the bike weight exactly 19kg without battery.

Hi Chaps
Answered my own question here....

INNO rack, very substantial looking things and rated to 23kg. Expensive at £159 each unfortunately, however I guess I can mitigate this somewhat by selling the Proride rails.
Can anyone suggest better ones than these?

How about a rack that fits behind the towball, such as the Maxxraxx? They leave the towball free for towing. I use one along with a tilt & slide Karritek roof rack. Though haven’t tried them with my ebike yet.
I can't fit a towball, LF; my car - <PH anti-leasing ranter impersonation> because I am not powerfully built, don't have £50K in cash in my current account and because I am scum and can't really afford a car (I really should know my place and buy an old banger which is all a car RENTING loser like me deserves) </PHalri> - is leased and also goes back in December. At least it's not diesel, eh? I'm not actually sure you can even have a towbar on that car tbh.We actually do have one of those big posh Thule ride on towball mounts for the OHs V70, however we won't be using that for our summer hols and various other ones we are going on.
Anyway the INNO racks look superb quality and a pair are arriving today. I'll take a pic.
