Not sure if anyone has started a thread for start times with but here goes

Blue Pen, Wave F 07:58 start time.

First one for me and only did first century two weeks back. I'm guessing that's a relatively late start. I put in 6hours30 as my estimated time

Me and SixPotBelly will be doing it in our club colours, which look like they were designed by a six-year-old. Because they were.

Both in pen D, 0616 start... ffs

Start: Green
Wave H
Load Time 05:44 - 06:24
Start 07:28

It's the gap between the Load time closing and the start that is going to piss me off! laugh

How is everyone getting to the start?

Hotel in Canary Wharf so just a couple of miles for me. But I had the same thought re pen open to start time. For those who have done This before, how far ahead of pen open time would you aim to get into the Park by? Is it easy to find your pen or do you need to allow plenty of time?

Same start time... How quick are you? Haven't been able to train at all!

Start time of 0624 (Blue, Wave H) for me. Wave opens at 0504. I'm riding in a Porn Peddlers Jersey. You won't miss it. It has 'Pascals Sub Sluts' printed on the back biggrin

From what I've gathered, this is relatively early start time and despite registered as a group, I'm disappointed that we aren't all starting the same wave, but at the same time I can understand why.

I cycle around 230 miles a month just commuting, but not really dne any training rides beyond 40 miles. Not phased by the distance and I'm looking forward to it.

Also hoping that the the jersey is of a more favourable cut that the Endura Ones from last year. Not seen any advertised yet either.

Rode it once in 2016 and it was a great event. Really enjoyed it, but the ride back to the station was quite testing on legs that had done around 110 miles and SPD-SL pedals.

I'll go alright. SPB is fit as a fiddle and will probably ride it twice before breakfast, I'll probably flag after 60-70 miles but it's all downhill from the top of Box, right?!

I'm basically looking at it as a long, fast club ride - not too much hard work except for a couple of little lumps. If I can get round in 5 hours I'll be content.

Think I'm going to defer.

Ive not done the Ride London before, but I was planning on using the shuttle train (from Richmond) but even the earliest won't get me there in time. To make matters worse my bro who was going to do it with me starts 1.5 hrs later.

Although If I defer I have to pay for next year as well (£140 total?), and there is no guarantee of a sensible start time (sensible as in being physically able to get there)

Pen A 05:48 start time for me, hotel booked at Blackwall Tunnel so not too bad to get there but early night anyway!

Should be ahead of the crowds and heat of the day if current weather holds.

You should be able to blag your way into his wave if you want to ride together though , and maybe that makes the train possible ?

following to see how everyone gets on. Thinking of applying next year as my sister lives in Bow so logistics are easy enough. Be rude not to take advantage before they move out of the area!

Thanks

That would indeed make it possible. What is the likelihood of success, or to put it another way, what are the chances of them refusing me entry?

I always get the sense that they're quite strict in not letting people start earlier and more relaxed about starting later which I understadn.

After all it'd be quite a mean official who said "No you can't start even though your train was late"

Have a 5:08 start time, going to drive up in morning and park, then cycle across town couple of miles to the start.
Should be finished before it gets too warm with that time.
Might need sleeves as I am a fair weather cyclist normally.

Apologies for the random post but based on your name+location you didn't happen to go to Sir Joseph Williamsons in Rochester by any chance?

I should be in Portishead Cycling Club jersey if it arrives in time...
I’m looking forward to this, but I’m still training and upping the distances. I’ll be pleased if I’m closer to 6hours than 7.
