I've been considering buying some new lights for my MTB so I can get out on an evening. I've noticed that Halfords offer a 1600 lumen font light for £50.

Any opinions as the if this is likely to be any good? It is from their own brand Bike Hut range

Have a look on the singletrack forum, there is a 4 page thread about the Halfords light

I have used it to hunt fish (you blind them with the flashlight at night and than shoot them), so submersion is fine as well.
Classy.

Thanks for that, I've had a look and there's nothing negative said about it.

There's a black Friday £15 off offer on the Halfords 1600lm front light at the minute bringing it down to £35, (which has prompted me to buy one).

Cheers, ordered, will make a good backup/additional light.

I'd not had a chance to try my Halfords 1600 lm front light out previously but I've been out twice in the last week and I'm impressed with it.
The light output is sufficient for off road woodland trails and the battery life seems good. I've had 3.5 hours of illumination and it's still showing 2 bars on the highest and 3 on the lower setting (I must admit I don't know what the indicators represent - I assumed it might be hours of run time left).

The light is easy to fit and after my first ride I purchased the remote switch for £5 which make controlling the light a doddle.

I don't know how it compares to an expensive better quality light, but as a casual cyclist with a limited budget it's a good buy. My BIL who I've been riding with is impressed and is going to get two, one for his bike and one to mount on his helmet..
