Anyone else ride as well as build? This is me at the BMX Beat comp at MK last year, good fun with Craig Campbell & Bob Haro judging nuts

I just dick about on my PK Ripper for a bit of a laugh from time to time. Not enough spare time to do all my other hobbies seriously unfortunately.

Loving the plate on your Lotus! clap

I only really ride, never really got into the retro bike scene but ride some of the over 30's skatepark events but prefer dirt/track. Used to race a few years back but too many injuries have put a stop to that. frown
We have an over 30's private session at a few local indoor skateparks about once a month. rotate

I want to find a bandito frame and forks. Build an old school rare beast to go with the bandito handlebars I have here from back in the 80s that were fitted to my black burner.

It was a great weekend, would have been even better if I had won biglaugh

I'm still not entirely sure how the judging worked, was it on 'radness' or something? Barlow didn't touch any ramps but won confused Not that im still bitter or anything wink

It was difficult really because some lads were doing flat and others ramp. we had a number "trick" boxes which got marks out of 10 then rad factor for each trick. the system would have worked great if everyone had put forward a run plan but it all came down to rad factor and number of tricks completed in the end. All just a bit of fun but it may need revision when the pros turn up wink

I loved BMX back in the day - I think I started with a Raleigh Burner with big plastic spokes then an Ultra Burner (black and gold one) and also had Diamond Backs, mongoose (I think or maybe that was parts?), and the best one I had was a GHP. I think that was Greg Hill Products but I don't really remember the story.

We had a good BMX track where I grew up and I remember racing competitively, Probably died off or at least I left it late-80s. When I discovered beer and ladies with loose morals.

It was just a bit of fun but I couldnt believe how nervous I was when i pedaled out, mucked up lots of tricks I can do 100% of the time but it was the same for everyone. Roll on MK20

Not into the BMX scene nowadays, but would love to buy a white Skyway TA.
Anyone point me in the right direction? I’m in the UK

Nothing on the bay, or gumtree. Is there a go to bike site or forum ??

RADBMX old school BMX forum could be worth a look, and they also have a facebook page of the same name. wink
Alans BMX shop sells complete NOS old school bikes, but no Skyways on there at the moment.

Look for 'We Were RAD Book submission group' on Facebook. Daily photos of old skool BMX, it's a proper rabbit hole.

Skyway are here

Otherwise speak to a BMX specialist like Alan's BMW or keep an eye on eBay or try the BMX section on the retrobike forum

Looks like they are all sold out.
It would be fun to build a new one. However an original would be my no.1

I've found some bits that I bought and fitted to my '86 Dyno Compe as part of a makeover that I did in about '95. I changed it back to '86 style a few years ago and these were left in the garage after selling the Peregrine semi pro 48s and strut bars. They are well used but if anyone wants anything for the price of postage let me know.
The crank is a Diamond Back stamped and logo'd CW175 and gyro is a gen1 which does have a top plate but need to have another dig in the box. I also have a pair of silver alloy mongoose branded 1/2 inch platform pedals not in the pic.
