Anyway, it is way too much bike for me, but I can't wait to point it up some steep hills!

Just picked it up from my LBS, it's the only BMCTeammachine SLR01 in the UK with Campagnolo Super Record EPS (the only other one is in Switzerland)
Can't wait to get out on it tomorrow (although it's probably going to be raining and grim as hell so in reality will be on the winter beater as usual)

Sold as "showing serious signs of use" but to my eyes it's near immaculate. Wasn't sure I'd be able to cope with the aggressively low stem (no option to raise it) but no back pain today after 2 hrs hard riding yesterday so I think it's a keeper. Nice and light at 6.48 kg and the Zipp 303's feel great. Will save it for special days, so it won't see much usage till spring.

Was this from the Canyon site? I got a notification a few years ago when they were selling off all the team bikes.
Not that it makes any difference (as you say - the wear looks / sounds quite light in reality) but do they service them before they ship them, or do they literally come straight from the last race and into a box?

Yep, from their Outlet site. They charge VAT but still seemed great value. Drive train looks near new, tyres brand new. I had a lot of webchat correspondence with Canyon before choosing this one. One had Zipp 404 tubulars, another Reynolds 62 mm rims which I'd struggle with in cross-winds. Another I chose and paid for had short cage rear mech which, being the brilliant Red eTap, would cost a lot to swap to medium cage, so I cancelled that order before dispatch and transferred to this bike. Mine is the ex-Alexis Ryan bike, so it has some pedigree! There's YouTube videos showing how well they maintain the team bikes so I didn't feel it a risk in that respect. It was the fitting that bothered me as the stem is fully slammed. I spent a lot of time comparing measurements against my recent bike fit and existing set up. They have a 14 day return policy as added insurance against a bad fit. The one change I will have to make is to the gearing - 52/36 and 11/25 is way too tough for my knees on the Surrey hills! The medium cage will accept up to 34T according to WeightWeenies and I'll probably put Absolute Black ovals on the front.Was this from the Canyon site? First tentative foray in damp nil-wind conditions gave me 15 Strava PRs, 2nds and 3rds, on local segments that I've ridden 200 times!
Ex competition bikes? Lovely.
I shall probably always regret not buying this...

Custom built for Hannah Barnes, it was stood in the shop when i went in to collect my bike from their workshop. It was a good fit, but a little too 'rich' for me to justify buying it. I could have just about afforded it, at the time, but convinced myself I shouldn't. By the time I decided to go back for another look, it had been sold. I'm not even sure if the Bog Warrior is still in the lineup of Wyndymilla bikes now. And buying this ex-Hannah Barnes bike would have been a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity.
And you know what they say about only regretting the things you did do? Missing out on this should have served as a lesson to me to procrastinate less, and just go out and do more, then regret it later. But I'm still procrastinating, and still eating up my riding time posting guff on the internet...
I also regret no buying an ex MG-Maxifuel road bike from WyndyMilla when they were available. Again, i ummed, and arrrghed too long about price (they were sold separate from the wheels, so i'd have to find money for wheels too) and then they were all sold. Most of the big race teams' bikes would be no good to me as I'm a shorty, but the ladies' team bikes usually have something to fit me.

Interestingly, Yellowjack, I did consider WyndyMilla as David Barnes there did an excellent bike fit on me in September and we talked for ages about frame design and everything bike. He's a designer, not a run-of-the-mill LBS bike fitter. I couldn't find a suitable ex-demo frame though. Hannah was indeed one of their 'brand ambassadors' (horrible phrase!) and I recall credited a WM bike as getting her decent results before she won a pro contract. Cycling Weekly had a positive review of their Massive Attack SL a couple of weeks ago.

When I change components to suit me better, I had intended to eBay them. Now I'm thinking of keeping them in a box so I can re-instate the bike to its original spec should I ever sell it.
