Proper sensible for me. Finally got my setup to where I want it, just need to buy a mobi washer to keep in the boot. No more having to play tetris with a muddy bike, camping kit, and regular kit. Also means I can take both the mtb and gravel bike on longer trips. And there'll be plenty of those coming up, this car just eats up the motorway miles.

My F31 330D on hols with my SC Tallboy 3

Bonus points available to anyone who recognises the alpine pass in the first two wink Shouldn't be too taxing as it's not an obscure one

Grimsel?
Got to be Furka or Susten then. I’ve done Susten but not Furka. Ran out of time.
I don’t remember that exact part on Susten so Furka?

This is my current set up:

Now with added bike carrier by Lewis Craik, on Flickr

However, with two little future mountain bikers in tow it is getting too small, so I'm looking to move to either an estate with racks on top/on a towbar or a VW T5. I'm sure I won't be the first in this area of the forum to have the dilemma of compromising the bikes safety etc or the car. From this thread cars seem to be winning out so far.

So any recommendations for carrying 2x adult bikes and 2x kids bikes both for regular short journeys or longer occasional ones, including in to Europe?

This is my old T5. Got it in 2013 and went all over Europe in it. Best thing I ever bought. Dying for an excuse to buy another one but now they're super trendy and the prices are frankly ridiculous

Currently just got the girlfriend's Panda. The wheelbase is almost the same as the bike.

No idea what to buy for myself. Keep looking at Octavia's but they're so boring. Might buy an Elise and keep using the Panda for the bikes.

An Octavia is probably the sensible option for me, but a Transporter seems more appealing.

My highly practical vehicle. Bike does actually go in the boot if you remove the seatpost which is a bonus.

How do you find this rack to use? Any strain on the car or wobble with the bike?
