I've had the road bike in the back of the 996, they regularly go in the M3, but normally it's a case of lobbing them in here:

It's a press car and was booked for some Ard Rock associated stories frown but couldn't let it stand idle.

Got to say, it's a great bike transport solution in a 'live the dream, sling it all in the back' kind of way and the way you can barrel along on that Fox suspension is mega. More interesting than the Transporter you could have for similar money and made short work of the potholed track to the trailhead. Though I'll confess you have more options with a van.

You'd have been about the only person who could have made it to ArdRock!

Raptor looks like a weapon. Given that 99% of 'driving to cycling' is done on the road, the sad fact for me is a normal car makes the most sense.

Has anyone else been to Nava? They use a G Wagon to get you up the top of the Alps, which is fun. The advice is to keep helmets and armour on when you get in the truck, because you get thrown around a lot!

My Skoda land-yacht.

Fits in the boot easily enough too.

The Panda 100hp is still doing its bike duties. Two road bikes on the roof, two MTBs in the back.

Mine's extremely sensible, if you forget about the 3.0l flat six with permanent AWD under the bonnet (and resulting 25mpg!)

Bike (vitus escarpe VR in size XL) goes in here, front wheel off

Soon to be changing to a 'land yacht' laugh in the form of a Skoda Superb estate, 2.0tdi. With a towbar carrier. Sensible has taken over.

I know crossovers and SUVs are not popular but I can't think of a better / cheaper solution to get to a muddy enduro race than the 1.5 Karoq. I can put 2 big bikes in vertically. Simply using the dropper to lock them in position against the ceiling.

This talk of 'land yachts'...When I have the bike in the States I rent one of these because it just makes life easier and because it has a 6.2 V8.

For ref, I'm 6ft.

Honestly - looking back from the drivers seat it's SO FAR to the back of the car laugh

Ditched this method for wheel-off in the boot method... much less faff. Also just ordered a Vitus Sentier VRS :-)
Which just fits in boot with front wheel off...

Current carrier, pic from this weekend at Stromlo...

Can fit the bike in without removing the wheels, though a bit cramped for rear seat passengers. Will also take three bikes and three people with nothing on the roof.

Folding rear seats make the 928 a versatile carrier too - got a pic somewhere.

Also MX5 - used to have a carrier for bikes on the back, but have managed to get me and bike inside the car with the hardtop on. Rubbish on some of the fireroads that lead to some of the bike tracks though.
