That looks ace.

What's the diff between the Vito and the Vielo? Is it that the former is smaller?

I don't suppose they make the holy grail of specification combinations I'd want... 3.0 V6 diesel, auto and 4WD in the larger version. I reckon that would tempt me away from my GL.
I think that’s a v class basically a Vito but in car buying trim. If I’m right it has a much nicer dash, and general cabin. Don’t actually know about the engines

I did some research. There's a 3-litre V6 diesel RWD which would give me an ace summer holidays bus. I particularly like this one for sale on Auto trader. I just need to convince my wife I want this AND to keep my GL (winter holidays bus biggrin).

My dad has the Vito 119 sport, basically van version with 3 seats in back and first set of rear windows. A kombi if you will. It’s rear wheel drive and I think a 4 pot.

Pulls well cruise etc fancy headlights (optional extra). Basically a nice thing.

Negatives,

Tyre pressure warning keeps comming on, its loosing it from alloys, been in twice now and they still not solved. Think they have changed the alloys on new ones.

Satnav set up is crap, not touch screen hard to use just horrible IMHO. my Suzuki swift one is 10 times better. I’d buy model without and retro fit something

The fekin car mat holder slip off all the time they even sent him different mats / fittings in an attempt to resolve.

His was a new 65 plate so probs resolves these issues by now.

I’m sure the v class has a much nicer dash ?

EDIT just realised the white one you show a pic of is the older model.

Yeah, I'd only buy an older one, but that age of van is similar to the age of my GL. I'm used to the crappy Merc COMAND SatNav but there are alternatives. You can get Android plug-in replacements for a few hundred. Haven't done it to my GL because I'm not 100% certain how complete the integration is but having a second older Merc would give me confidence to try.

I don't think they provide the V6 diesel in the new model range and that's a deal-breaker for me. I'll never go back to a 4-banger.

Glad to have bikes on the outside instead of in the back at this time of year!

Spotted in Masham yesterday. I like the plastic bag wrapped around the seat.

I quite like that. Probably a bit impractical for UK roads though hehe
Illegal to drive it without a lorry licence.

My attempt at sensible bike transport after years of mx5 ownership, and only photo I currently have, sorry.
I then made life difficult by buying a really long 29er mtb which barely fits unless you take both wheels off.

Here’s mine

How exactly does that work? Does the round tube at the bottom somehow attach to the bottom bracket?

I run Shimano hollow tech cranks on all my bikes so the tube is sized to slide into the Hollowtech BB Axle, You can just slide the bike onto the BB, then pivot it down and lock in the front wheel, there is no chance of the bike coming off, and it does not risk damaging any part of the frame. only down side is that it had to be made to fit a specific bike, I could have made it adjustable but did not see the need

In winter mode with the pants winter alloys instead of the proper 216’s. Bike went in the boot with the seats down in summer.
Just bought a Passat b5.5 estate to drive over winter; I’ll probably keep it for bike/tip/diy duties as it’s too practical not to have!

My M140i...

Not as easy as my old vRS was for chucking bikes in so I’ve relented and bought a roof carrier. I drive like an old lady with the bike up there but in the winter, it’s been nice not getting the interior covered in mud.

Bike in a bike bag on the back seat - wheels in the boot. Bit of EMtbing followed by V8 drop-topping in the Peak District always makes a good day out smile

That is a pretty handsome van in that guise. Current car is a Nissan Cube and the only bike that has carried is my Brompton! Not even sure it would fit my road bikes. Previous bike carriers below:

Saab 9-5 Aero. probably the fastest bike carrier I have owned. The D3's 3.5T towing capacity was not tested with my bike rack. Having used tow ball mounted bike racks, I would never go back to roof racks again.
