My 1990 Claud Butler Vantage. Did some serious stuff on this back in my 20s.

Still in really good original condition. Only non original parts are the rims & tyres.

Thought it was the dogs with the aluminium frame.

I took one of those to Tarifa with me in 1993, for the purposes of weaving dangerously back from the bars in the evening.

I've still got my 1996 Marin Team FRS in the garage but haven't ridden it in over 10 years.

http://www.retrobike.co.uk/gallery2/v/Manufacturer...

Along with my 1996 Trek ZX700 which is somewhere at my mums house.

My first mountain bike was a Muddy Fox Pathfinder, the only bike I've ever sold and I wish I still had it.
It was like this one but with a Girvin Flex stem.
https://www.usedwolverhampton.co.uk/ReportSelectUs...

It was sold to raise funds to buy the Trek, then I was given the Marin by my dad who bought a full suspension Porsche FS bike like this http://forums.pelicanparts.com/7225894-post1.html (which I've inherited after his death).

Do I recall that they were frame only and you had to build them?

I'm sure quite a few of us had the RC 200 as a 'grail' type frame back in the day. Awesome. What is the opinion on the newer Pace frames these days? I was pleasantly surprised to see they were still about, but they don't seem to get talked about much?

Retreived my retro from my Mum's house; I actually bought it in 2007 for getting around London. I was a fan back in the day (for some reason I'm into GTs, and I liked polished aluminium); I've not quite gelled with it on the (slightly) rough stuff; I'm thinking about putting semi-slicks on and using it as a towpath and town bike.

Yes. I had mine built in 1997. They're not to everyone's taste but I love mine. It's been all over Europe, including the Alps and Pyrenees and has served me very well. I'll add a full spec and more pictures once I've finished the service (I'm waiting on some fork seals to arrive and new tyres).

Thanks. It was my dream bike. I had a Marin Bear Valley SE before having my Pace built way back in 1997. It's still a great bike and it's my only MTB. I love it and I'll never sell it.

I don't know much about the current range from Pace but I note their Hardtail's are made from Reynolds 853 (nothing wrong with that of course) and Pace Chromo Steel. It seems a shame that they moved away from Aluminium frames. I think their FS bikes are Carbon Fibre.

Just realised I posted in another thread in error...

My 1990/91 Hammer, with lots of early '90s mods: Mag21s, Flite, X-lite Titanium bar. First thing I did when I got it was strip the Gripshifts off - couldn't stand them. Only remaining Suntour bits on it are the crankset and 'self-energising' brakes on the rear. Dia-Compe 289s on the front. All the rest a mixture of Deore XT from between 1992 and 1997. Still have the original Wolber rims for my road tyres, otherwise Mavic 261s for off road. Nearly 30 yrs old and still going strong.

Depends on the rarity and desirability of the bike. 'Sold listings' on eBay should give you a good gauge of what your bike(s) are worth.

I'm a collector of vintage mountain bikes, it started when I lived in Southern California and became friends with a bike collector. Living there made me realise I could afford what I lusted over as a teenager. This was 15-20 years ago before the internet took off. It's made things much more competitive!

You can see some of collection on www.vintagemountainbikes.com.

Thanks. What's wrong with the front brake? I'm guessing you've got discs on your F8? Hope you get them sorted.

I've still got my 1995/6 - Gange frame, which was replaced due to rust, but components from my 1995 blue one Cinder Cone, little ridden. I too had noticed the rising values and am thinking of cashing it in. Retrobike best?

After (briefly) going back to my old 26 mountain bike with quill stem, I can't understand the enthusiasm.
