Anyway, I am not too down on it as a thing if its getting people who previously did nothing, to do something. That's a win in my book. But yeh, its laughable the money involved, and the ste it spits out that people believe, but that's life isn't it, people do not want to know they're actually not even remotely fit in the schema of people that ride bikes.

If Peloton go back to building their business in a sustainable manner, it will lose loads of the share value as it adjusts, but that doesn't make it any less of a viable business.
I think the business always used a gym based pricing methodology, or in this case more of a golf club. High cost to join (bike) and then monthly fees. They know full well that not everyone will use them a lot. And that not everyone will make decent use of the number of classes that are available.
The difference is that if all the golf club members turned up to play a round on a Sunday morning, they'd be buggered. With Peloton, they'd just need to put more hamsters into the servers.

i thought about the kickr bike but it’s £3k and i can’t get a mates rates one from wahoo. i’ve had a go on one they are decent. That said, the new atom looks nice.
i like the wattbike pro, i’ve used one for two winters now and it’s great for intervals and big sprint training.

The BBC article said about the timing of the price changes : "It came as losses widened at the firm in the fourth quarter of the year and revenue growth began to slow".
If you are losing money on the back of pandemic driven levels of sales where half the world was locked indoors it doesn't seem very "sustainable".

The BBC seem to have an obsession with Peloton as a business and the pricing of their products, a more cynical mind might suggest there's at least some good PR going on here if not some sort of arrangement...

That video is shocking to see. Why not just unplug it??
Reckon that kid was OK not the one who died. Mine are not much older and they’re pretty elastic at that age. His wriggle reflex really came into play there, good ol human fight instinct.
The thing about the girl running off it isn’t likely “to alert mom and dad” but more like “oh crap I might get in trouble bc mom and dad told me not to touch their expensive toy so I’m outta here!”

Just at is happens I've just done a 30 minute ride at 10pm on the bike 
15 weeks in and my wife is fully addicted!! At least half of the stuff she does with Peloton isn't on the bike though.
I have no idea what Peloton claims user base is, but given the Usain Bolt 'ride' has 32K users on the leaderboard in 4 weeks would suggest at least 32K subscribers? $39/month, that's $15million a year from subscription fees. I suspect x2 studios and and internet streaming service doesn't cost that much to run. Though if the instructors are taking home $$$$/year than actually the profit margins aren't going to be massive??
Regardless of BBC reportings I'm still very keen on getting a Tread, but its over £2K and I hate running so am not sure it its worth it. The bike though gives your plenty of work out if you want it, and it certainly feels much safer trying to smash it on the bike compared to a real world Strava segment with all the nutter drivers around at the moment!

It was never "fairly" valued, can remember being shocked about the assumptions when looking at private funding rounds (not an expert either but do invest with them). That's why it didn't do fantastically post IPO pre-covid.Its a proper thing of scale.
The market loves tech, growth, and subscription models now, so was a darling, and been easy to be negative on lots of "expensive" companies for years, but the post covid rally was nuts , they scaled user base ... showed no sign of profits (or even reducing loss margins) . Funny that things like deliveroo got found out so much earlier.
Having said that, I do occasionally get surprised at people I know shelling out for them. Types aghast at the price of mid end road bikes, and London gyms.
6 months in, its pretty much built into daily life now, my wife though uses the whole Peloton 'experience' much more than me. Pretty much the best £39/month we have ever spent interms of fitness, certainly much more effective than any gym membership we've had in the past.
I'm still tempted to get the Tread, but I hate running so that seems a bit silly.

.Almost a year in and still love mine. It’s used way more than my previous gym membership and it’s engrained into my routine.
It’s done more for my fitness than anything previous, ever. Can only see it being used even more over winter and I’ve definitely settled into a couple of instructors who I enjoy the most (some are a bit much!).
