Had an issue last night on my planned ride to the coast avoiding the sweat easy ride. Mech decided it didnt want to play anymore.

I'm sure I read somewhere that Sram mechs have a short life

Depend which ones I think... SX and NX don't have a great reputation for durability, but GX and up seem pretty good.

Not read of any major issues with the NX and I've had mine for several months now with mixed riding. Everything does need to be torqued up correctly and calibrated though on these 12 speed drivetrains else you end up with stuff failing down the line. No idea on the SX, isn't that base model XD body fitment whilst the NX is of course Shimano HG.fitment. I don't think NX is classed as low/mid/high really as it stands on its own being designed for HG freehub bodies and the only 12 speed cassette from anyone else is a KMC one.

One plus of the NX is the reach mech is less prone to bending which the GX rear mech is, but as it's Eagle you can swap around whatever Eagle component and build a custom drivetrain which is nice.

I do believe the bulk of the issues were with the early GX drivetrain which SRAM later fixed mostly.

This is the first eagle GX I've broken, I can buy the backplates separately from zee germans, so at least i'll have a spare.
I had an NX for a short time on the GT Ebike I had for a few months, It didn't have a clutch mechanism???? Got quite rowdy in CyB when I was there lol.

NX is like the other Eagles, it has a clutch that's always on!

Using Footpath Map for more local routes last night. Lovely evening, just before the rain hit an hour later.

There were a few cyclists out in the forest today.

Then home for an energy drink.

The weather looks like it’s about to take a turn for the worse now too.

It was a big one today

So I did the sensible thing and fuelled accordingly. This was just before a 25% climb out of Ventnor.

There are no 25% climbs anywhere on the Isle of Wight. Unless your computer is wayyyyy off. The climb out of ventnor is 12% at it’s worst.

Llyn Brenig reservoir trail today, Snowdonia, really great.

Very empty road that runs alongside, made a great backdrop as it snaked around.

The bit after the second hairpin was probably the steepest bit of road I’ve ever ridden up.

Rode to Knockhill for a nosey on Friday.

I’ve done rides where I’ve ridden further and climbed more, but found this one really rather punishing.

Discovering I had forgotten my water bottles 20km in was a low point, closed road on the way home right at the bottom of a lovely 2km descent was another hehe

Never cycled at Llyn Brenig, I use the great cafe as a stop on my way home for breakfast after a drive.

As you say, it's a lovely location.

73km round trip to a friend's. Absolutely lashed it down. New panniers didn't leak, so that was nice.

A regular ‘gravel’ haunt of mine. I park at Clocaenog and ride through the forest to Brenig via the wind turbine tracks. A loop of Brenig, then a loop of Alwen then a return back to the car.

Club Gravel ride today taking in some bridle paths south of Chester and the Bishop Benet Way.

Had a minor run in with some cows, then we noticed the bull too.

Trails getting pretty overgrown now….50 miles all in.
