Chilly 60km today to Grafham water. Surprisingly low water levels given the time of year, just goes to show how dry this Winter has been so far.

I had been planning to ride at FoD this weekend, but decided to avoid driving unnecessarily, so rode locally instead. Off road was fine, but some of the roads were a bit icy.

Took the young bloke to an mtb park I hadn’t been to for about 10 years, about an hour’s drive away - always felt there was more fun for me elsewhere. Anyway, it’s had some trail work done and is much more fun than it used to be with some decent blue trails and a few obstacles. We managed 25km/435m over a couple of hours, all on singletrack through the trees, and generally enjoyed it…

There were a few locals lurking in the trees…

Had to give up when we did, cos it was around 30C… biggrin

Coffee stop in Tàrbena, a village inland from Altea where we are staying for a week. The roads & views are amazing. Weather is great albeit chilly. It seems most of the pro’s are out here, spotted MvdP climbing Col de Rates as I was heading down. Bikes easily outnumber cars by some margin.

Young bloke finding his line this morning…

But possibly of more note was that I saw my first Bird mtb just a few minutes later - an Aether 9, and forgot to get a pic. Did chat with the owner though, another Pom in an extended world tour taking his mtb with him. Good chap!

His next stop is Queenstown next week, so maybe one for GravelBen to look out for…

You've done well, the weather has cleared nicely for a few days.

I was following one of the UAE guys up there before New Year. He was with his girlfriend, hence I could keep up biggrin

Queenstown would be a dream place to ride for me but will probably never happen!

Was it a Aether9 C (carbon)? It's a beautiful frame which is underrated and has been unavailable since they shifted the recent batch with slight paint defects for very little money. I hope they make some more!

We had great weather from Tuesday onwards. This is the view from the plane as it parked up at Alicante. It’s my first time riding in the area & I really liked it. It’s all either up or down but the views are worth it.

Too windy and wet for more photos, water everywhere, many roads pretending to be rivers, sketchy fun on rim brakes with me and bike 120kg....only a cheeky 20 today

Managed to get out during a gap in the rain yesterday.
Wyre Forest was very muddy (always is in winter) and the roads were slow but had a great time regardless.

Some of the hills by me (Far Forest / Bewdley) are feeling much less steep than when I started riding earlier last year, training is paying off!
We have a few that are 12% average and up to 16% in places. Good practice for Ditchling Beacon on the L2B ride in June.
