First time back on a bike after a big off resulting broken collar bone, major muscle damage and 5 rib fractures.

I'd like to say it's great to be back, but fk me it was painful laugh

Start of a long journey back to fitness but that aside, it was great to be back on a bike out in the sun.

I didn’t fancy another absolute slog in the wind today (it’s been 20-30mph since I arrived) so the Mrs hired an e-bike & we cycled from Costa Teguise to Arrecife airport to get buzzed by the landing jets. Lanzarote has some great roads & routes but the wind is a factor, a couple of hours with a strong headwind & it’s time to turn. It always blows here but it seems I dropped on for an especially windy week.

77 miles today. This is the view of Gloucester from Ham Road. You can see Churchdown Hill and Robinswood to the left with the Dry Ski Slope. Oh I like Squishies.

Only my third ride this year. Moors Valley Country Park MTB loop, × 4.

Fresh from picking the bike up from a local shop where a buckle in the rear wheel and some damage to the dérailleur hanger was being rectified. I've no idea how the damage occurred. Presumably a family member (or possibly our window cleaner) knocked it over or bashed it while it was in my garage. It needed other bits doing too. New brake pads and dérailleur pulley wheels (bearings shot). I didn't fancy straightening the hanger and adjusting the shifting myself, so I got them to do it all. It's filthy now, because I took the mudguards off to wash it before dropping it at the bike shop.

MVCP was lovely. Apart from the puddles. They caused wet feet and the "8°C, feels like 2°C" wind chill caused very cold toes. Numb feet was what brought the ride to a slightly premature end, and rather than soak my trainers as well as my SPD shoes, I took off my socks for the drive home.

Had a lovely early morning ride up Clee Hill (Shropshire) yesterday. It's on my doorstep and has been staring at me every day over winter. Felt great to finally be able to climb it again.
Canyon Grizl with road tyres was surprisingly nippy!

The first picture the road into Cleobury?
Looks like it was a nice morning on the 'Shropshire Ventoux'

Yep that's the road from Far Forest to Cleobury.
Clee Hill looks quite daunting from there but you find yourself at the foot of the hill in no time.

A colourful, if not particularly special, sunset this evening.

More importantly, it marks (hopefully!) the end of barely using using my road bike last year following long term post viral issues and an almost total loss of self-confidence in believing that my body wouldn't just give up on me miles from anywhere.

I've had a fairly solid winter of Zwifting now, my figures aren't where they used to be but I have belief in my legs back; and although this was a short ride, it felt good. smile

The sun was out so it felt rude not to get a quick lunch spin in shorts and short sleeves. It was nice to ride something other than my CX bike… not summer bike weather just yet though!

Whilst on a recent family holiday, I took the chance to hire an E MTB for a couple of hours. As a full-time roadie and part-time gravel lover, this was my first-ever ride on a proper MTB, let alone an assisted one. Wow was it fun, I might have enjoyed going up the hills more than down but I loved it.
