My flexibility is pretty good but I do have a compressed disc in my lower back so it's for preservation as much as anything. I'll get a few hundred miles done and if no issues I'll drop the stem
Cool, good luck, great build.

This has been gathering dust since 2013. I've ridden my road bike since then but have an urge to get back out off-road. Cotic Soul 26" in lovely steel. I have various parts lying around from previous bikes so it's going to be a bit of a triggers broom consisting of 2x10 Deore crankset, SLX shifters and DTSwiss wheels. The forks are RockShox SID.

Race Ready! by Ben Magee, on Flickr

All clean and race ready for another faultless ride at today's Tour of Cambridgeshire (the bike was faultless anyway...) She never seems to look as 'pro' as other bikes on here?!... frown (but again, I think that's also my fault for being 5'6" with a 27.5" inside leg!)
Nice! How was the Tour of Cambridgeshire for you? I managed a 2:44 (56m).
Cheers, she is my pride and joy! smile

This was my third year at the ToC (the roads are local to me as I live 5 miles from the Showground so it'd be rude not to...) and my first year in the race pen!

Posted 3:26 in the end, the pace at the front was fking BRUTAL! At one stage early on we were hossing along at nearly 60kph on the flat! I managed to stay with the lead group in my age category (35-39M) for nearly an hour but got fully dropped at the Alconbury Hill passing over the A1 at the south end of the circuit!

It was a really good lesson for me though and I now have a better idea of what I need to work on. I've signed up for next year already with the aim of finishing in the lead group... I know that's going to be a big ask - many of those guys 20mins up the road from me can put in many more hours training and some pay for professional coaching!

cool

It looks kind of familiar... even the wheels (I have archetype rims front and back now despite this pic)

Ha how weird is that!

I've just retired my Master due to a cracked seat stay and wanted to give some carbon Colnago a try, this interested me because of the monocoque front and bonded lug rear triangles, they review really well so I'm hoping it's a good steer.

I've loved riding it, but nothing much to compare it with, the only other road bike I've owned/still own is a £200 2nd hand Allez. I find the CLX comfy but responsive, nimble & fast, yet stable... everything I guess Colnago is supposed to be.

Sadly my CLX got crunched in an RTA last September. I've had the frame repaired because the raw carbon fix was only going to be £150 (plus front rim and new bars). I learn't a lot stripping and rebuilding it for the fix. I might get the paint seen to if I think in time the repaired frame is viable, though I'm kind of blind to the patch now.

I paid I reckon £680 for the bike (10 speed 105 spec) about a year ago so I think in terms of value it's phenomenal (even more so because I've barely touched the insurance payout from the crash). Before the crash I'd planned to treat it to a campag group and may still do that. I'm often hanging about on ebay looking for used groupsets but also colnagos, de rosa's, looks etc. anything a little bit outside the standard picks. Quite tempted to look at a C40,C50 or C59 next time for the full lugged 'proper' carbon colnago experience.

Yes ideally I'd be after an EPS or a C59 but the budget won't quite stretch to that at present.

Finally completed the build of 'Bitzenbob' my latest Ebay monster...

Bitzenbob by Ben Magee, on Flickr

I bought the frame some time ago with thought that I would use the head tube, bottom bracket shell and lugs for a bamboo bike that never really got off the ground.

I then tried building her up super cheap as the frame cost me 20p and the wheels (Alex Rims and unknown hubs - the freehub is very quiet) were £1.20 including the Continental tyres and Tektro rotors! Even after being gifted the old avid juicy 3s from a workmate I ran out of patience for that as there is no such thing as decent cheap forks and group sets!

In the end a bit of a bonus from work allowed me to be a little lazy and get her ready to ride, she stands me at about £200+/- The forks were £48 bankrupt stock, the group set is a 1x10 mix of old and new Shimano Deore/XTR with finishing kit coming from ebay, Wiggle clearance and Evans ex-display.

She rode faultlessly on her maiden outing (the snapped chain was my fault for fking up the connection rivet and bending a link!), the gears were great, brakes are fine and the overall feel is balanced and stable. She weighs in at 14.9kgs/32lb 13oz, god knows what make the frame is but that was 2kg on it's own! It has nicely machined drop outs and decent looking welds, the bottom bracket shell is old school 68mm English thread.

Can't wait to get out and about on her now! smile

Campagnolo Super Record groupset
Campagnolo Bora 50 Ultras
Zipp SL-70 Aero bars plus Zipp carbon Stem and carbon seatpost
Fizik Aliante demo seat

Just did a quick 10 mile blast on it ready for tomorrows ride and it's as lovely to ride as it looks

Very, very pretty. I've got some wheels and very similar set up on my Dogma (although with MOST one-piece headset - which I recommend!).

Tan sidewalls really set if off too.

I agree a slammed stem would look more pro but kind of defeats the point of the bike fit
I've gradually gone from 25mm to slammed. It's more 'adapting' than fit. Well worth it though.

Two new project bikes for a bit of gentle restoration. New tape tyres and then see what else needs doing.

As a teenager I had a Puch Prince that looked pretty similar to the Pegasus you have....at the time I chose it as it was a bit different to the ubiquitous Raleigh that my friends had, and of course being Puch it was intrinsically linked to the mighty Puch Maxi, moped of choice back then for those that didn't want an FS1E!

As you can see I like grey but I had to buy a bright yellow helmet and some bright jerseys as everything was going a bit '50 shades of grey' smile
