I haven't been out on them yet (well I took it for a spin round the block)Until the weather gets nicer, it will be staying tucked away in my spare bedroom.
First impressions were good though, stopped as well as alloy in the dry. Freehub is loud too which is awesome.
Hey there, this is my small bike collection. First up is a Cotic RocketMax. I'm rather fond of it, perfect do everything mtb. Reynolds 853 steel front triangle, alu rear. These photos were taken at Afan and Triscombe.
I've got a Cotic Roadrat as well which is my daily, its setup single speed and its in the weird old "builders tea" colour. The frame was very cheap on eBay as a result Lol. Awesome about town, not so expensive I'm afraid to leave it locked anywhere but very smooth and stops fast. The brakes are dramatic overkill for 25mm tires but I often put gravel tires on it in the summer. Its currently running 39-14 ratio, so slightly longer than 44-16.
I saw this Canonndale whilst in sixth form and fell in love with it. About 15 years later I decided to track one down, it took a year of saved searches on eBay to find a good condition frame set. Built it up 1x11 as it just seems to make sense to me. I'm no hardcore roadie (and a single speed rider at that) so am never going to be too concerned about the perfect cadence. I'm sure the flats will cause raised eyebrows but whats done is done

My new bike turned up yesterday. Partially paid for by an insurance payout following an incident with my old Specialized Allez, a roof rack and a restricted height barrier, it’s taken a bit of the sting out of what was an annoying, and embarrassing, incident.
It’s an Orro Gold STC Ultegra.
In managed a 40km blast in the icy winds and snow flurries yesterday and initial impressions are very good. I know that looks are subjective but I think it looks fantastic. There are parts of the frame where the carbon weave is visible and it looks quite distinctive - more chessboard check than the usual tight weave that you see. The black paint and gold details put me in mind of the JPS livery from the old Lotus F1 cars!
It’s my first carbon bike and I could definitely notice the difference on the hills, especially when I got out of the saddle. It just seems to pick up speed much more easily than my old bike. The ride is very smooth too and it feels like a bike you could spend the day on (which is good as I have two gran fondos planned for this year). The bar tape is a bit thin though so I might get that replaced for something a bit plusher, especially as I ride gloveless when the weather permits.
Otherwise there doesn’t seem to be any cost cutting on the components. It’s got the full Ultegra R8000 groupset, 3T stem and bars and Prologo Kappa Evo saddle. The only think I will change is to swap over the Conti GP4000 tyres from my old bike to replace the GP Race cheapos that it was supplied with.
Overall I’m chuffed to bits with it and can’t wait for some decent weather to get it for a long ride. I don’t mind riding in stty weather but I’m not going to use the new one when there’s so much salt and other rubbish on the roads. Roll on spring!
