Must stop buying Rapha stuff.

I probably shouldn't do this, but since 24th September I've bought...

Pearl Izumi Leg Warmers (£22)
High 5 Gels (£13)
High 5 Tablets (£5)
Pearl Izumi Elite Thermal Overshoes (£44.99)
Assos Chamois Cream (£10.79)
Bar Tape (£7.50)
Ebay Light from other thread (£17.34)
Rapha Merino Knee Warmers (£49)
Rapha Merino Base Layers (£94)

Yikes. I really am addicted to buying bike stuff hehe

None of it's even for the bike!

It's amazing you're off the Rapha site enough to get out on your bike wink

To (badly) quote Grease, I don't drink (much), or smoke, or spend lots on hair cuts. I don't feel too bad about spending a bit on bike gear. Everyone has to have a vice of some sort. wink

I have pointed out to the missus she has it pretty goo with me. I also don't watch much sport on TV or play video games. When I am indulging my vice, it's also making me healthier too...

This is very true hehe

I also got 2 s/s tops in their sale (a super light weight and a club jersey) a month ago ready for my trip to Portugal - I must say, they were superb.

It's while I'm at work, browsing these sites with too much time at lunch thinking "that'd be nice, that'd be nice...oo that too", dreaming of tonight when I'll be back on the bike biggrin

Picked up a 2010 CAAD9 last night. It’s new to me anyway. Looking forward to spending Saturday morning getting it to fit and then going out to wobble about before joining The SPD Club.

The Rapha Merino knee warmers arrived yesterday. My new favorite thing. Chilly ride out last night, but they were superb - really chuffed with them. I'd want to be for £45, mind hehe

I bought some Après Vélo clothing to bum around in. The email i received stating the shipment progress was amusing.

It is my pleasure to inform you that your Après Vélo order has been dispatched from the Land of the Devoted and Home of the Insane, where our Temple of Vélove resides.

You will be pleased to know that I personally supervised our production team as they meticulously printed your garment and delicately hand stitched it with the very finest cotton threads from far away lands. I then observed as it was given a luxurious wash in the finest of Italian stone baths filled with our secret recipe of 7 essential softening oils, to inspire feelings of comfort and tranquillity when wearing your most cherished Après Vélo item.

It was with great delight that I witnessed our highly trained expert from Japan check the seams and quality of your prized possession so that when you wear it for all the world to see, you look magnificent and represent our noble sport of cycling with “cool” credibility. I watched as they meticulously inserted our care label and canvas swing tag, and then delicately pressed and folded your garment. Your order was then carried proudly aloft to our packaging temple, where our white-gloved staff gently packed your “work of art”.

I could only smile as it was collected by six fine cycle couriers resplendent in Après Vélo gear. The clattering of 100 cowbells & cheering from staff was deafening, as your order was cycled away to our depot for collection by our transport company. We are blissfully exhausted, but look forward to hopefully inspiring you once again with our passion for all things cycling.
Thank-you once again, we truly appreciate that it is you, our customer, that puts the carb-rich food on our table.

The Big Cog and the Après Vélo team

After a thoroughly good soaking on Wednesday I finally invested in something marginally more waterproof than a jersey;

On-One track chainset, BB, chain and saddle from Planet-X..

1" threaded Tange Headset, long-drop brakes, 18t cog and spacers en route from VeloSolo.

105 Pedals and no-name seatpost due from CRC.

The difference in cost between this and a new SS bike is going to be rather smaller than I anticipated.

just bought some brake levers to go on my retro bike. The original Wienmann ones are like knife blades when riding on the hoods no matter what i do. Also got an old mouse mat to make some custom bar pads for under the tape and some new brake cables.

Also on the look out for a 120mm Quill stem and a longer seatpost as the one i have is only 180mm i think. Not sure on size yet, but gonna get some calipers to find out in the next week.

Just received and fitted a Ritchey carbon stem, carbon headset specers and a Ritchey carbon seat post to fit to my Wilier Izoard XP xenon. It looks lovely now

Also looking at some new wheels to replace the Fulcrum 5's, but not sure what to replace them with, any suggestions? Looking at a budget of £500 ish

Just swapped out the bottom bracket on my single speed.
As you can see the old one was completely shot.
