I need to tidy up the cables on my new bike, so bought some Park Cable cutters, but then decided that whilst I am shortening the dropper post cable I may as well fit the lever under the bar, so I bought a KS Southpaw lever too.

The front brake hose needs to be shortened too, so I bought a Shimano brake bleed kit and 3D printed a cable clamp at work.
I forgot about the Ergon GE1 grips I'd ordered too, although it looks like my son may have claimed them.

Some Fulcrum Red Metal Zero rims and Nobby Nic tyres, I wonder when Mrs Ted might notice that I don't clean the MTB but upgrade the bits as they get dirty lol

Summer commuting kit from aliexpress, all around $13-15 I think. I ordered a couple to check sizing so I'm wearing these ones at the moment:

Pictures...
After this I ordered a jersey and jersey and bib shorts set from different suppliers. Both jerseys were great, but they sent shorts instead of bib shorts. I wasn't too bothered as only for commuting, but still. Contacted seller but shop seems to have disappeared and no reply so I opened a dispute, one option is partial refund at the amount you suggest. I said £5 off, (£13 instead of £18) next day AliExpress agreed and refunded money!

A complete R8000 Ultegra groupset and Praxis BB to fit to the commuter. The previous ultegra was getting a bit trigger's broom, and needed several new parts after years of all season commuting.

Can wait to see it in the flesh.

I've got all my jerseys now. the Cinzano one came only yesterday though so did take a while. That one is the most disappointing in that the back of the jersey is just plain black. I checked the listing and there weren't any pictures of the back - so my fault really. Other than that they've all been great.

New PH kit is in the post apparently so I'm going to be spoiled for choice.

Another recent purchase is a set of Sapim race spokes in black. I crashed my bike last year buckling the front wheel (shimano R500). I resurrected the wheel by replacing the rim with an H Plus Son Archetype (retaining R500 hubs, spokes and nipples) which has been fine. Out of pure vanity I re-rimmed the rear to match and then had a terrible 60 mile round trip commute one day as four spokes let go over the course of the day (thank goodness for decent bike shops nearby). Turns out I'd not realised there was an offset on the nipple holes on the rim so the spokes were bending unnaturally. Having stressed the lot I thought I should replace them all and just looking for some time to get stuck in re-lacing the thing and truing up.

Bought a deore hollow tech crankset to replace the old cheap broken one on my giant revel 0. Now have the choice to keep with 8 speed at back or upgrade (chain, cassette and shifters to 9speed), bike shop thinks my 8speed stuff will be ok on 9speed crankset for time being?

Ordered a Wahoo Elemnt Bolt yesterday after getting lost a few times at the weekend on a 50 mile ride.

Never owned a cycle computer before so hopefully it will make my weekend jaunts a little easier and more interesting.

Let us know how you get on with it as I am looking to upgrade my TryWin D3 to something better.

Yes I'd be interested in your report on the Bolt too. Thiking about pulling the trigger on one of these next month.

I'll report back. I don't have the power meter, cadence sensor or heart rate monitor and will simply be using it for GPS, speed, Strava connectivity etc for now. They look like a decent bit of kit though from the reviews I've read. Fingers crossed!

Bought far too much, but then I've been out of the saddle for years and I'm as good as starting from scratch.

My son is on his first proper bike and itching to go further than our cul-de-sac. The wife and I agreed we should both get mobile again so that we can all go out, plus get a little fitter hopefully.

So the list of purchases from the last week or two is thus:

2 x adult hybrid bikes (secondhand ladies Giant and new Orbea,Vector)
Mudguard set for my bike
Various tool, spares, bottle cages, etc
Kiddie seat
Roof bars and Thule cycle carriers x2
Helmets
Shorts
Probably other stuff too.

Time to let the bank account recover a little now.

I've been using and Elemnt Bolt for a while now and I'm very impressed with it.

Pros
Paired easily with my HRM and picks it up now without issue.
Uploads to Strava as soon as I get within wifi range of home
Navigation is good, using routes planned within Ride With GPS
Easy to tailor custom screens to show exactly the data that you want
The lights can be configured to show different data fields. My shows different colours for different heart rate zones, but I believe that it will show power as well (don't have a power meter)
Easy to set up via the phone app
It's small (and apparently aero!)

Cons
Not much really.. I'd like it to re-route automatically back to my route if I miss a turning like a proper sat nav, but I don't think that any of them do that

Whats the simplest way to reliably ensuring you don't get lost offroad?

I don't need any online leaderboards/bluetooth etc. Just needs maps and strong high quality gps? Can I do this via Android phone, or is a standalone one better?

Been a busy month...

Specialized Tarmac expert 52cm frame (bought of the present world junior CX silver mdeallist which was nice)..

but then I found it was too small so I went and bought a Venge expert 54cm frameset instead.

then I bought a Specialized S Works seat post just to see what it looked like in the tarmac frame and realised the frame would've been fine with a 400mm seatpost. Oh well.

Then in the interest of balance I picked up a PX RT58 frame and set about building a cheap bike for a friends daughter so I've been scavenging CRC and Ebay for cheap Tiagra and Sora bits (do much friendlier to set up than all this 11 speed fragile stuff).

I'm a convert to those grips, always thought Ergon stuff looked a bit lame but I gave in due to the amount of folks saying good things. ttted one on a tree a week after fitting em mind. Which was annoying.

It has taken me three rides to get them adjusted so my hands don't ache. I'm out on my old bike with ODI grips this afternoon, I'm interested to see how they compare after the Ergons.
