Very cheap. Very cheerful.

Slightly more expensive, but not bank busting.

Really impressed with the Decathlon stuff, I've got their high end shoes and bib, I needed some cheaper tops for commuting and for £5 the quality is spot on. Really impressed by nearly all their range.

To the point I've now got their 900 range shoes and bib, waterproof top and several socks.

Recently I've been wanting some Rapha bits but couldn't justify (spare the) money, was lurking in Evans and spotted the FWE stuff. I won't pretend its as posh as Rapha. However its a similar aesthetic and quality feels very good for £42 all in.
Recently bought a 900 series tri suit/skinsuit to wear at Tour of Cambridgeshire. Really impressed with it for £65. Seams are all good quality, zip seems good, and it has some well thought out pockets.

I've also got the 900 series carbon sole shoes which are leaps and bounds ahead of anything else you can get for the same money.

I've got a bit of a wheel obsession at the moment. Think I've bought 8 in the last month.

I am a sucker for a good deal. Now I just need to figure out what to with them all, which inevitably means spending more money all in the name of a bargain.

Is it any wonder that people buy their components from the internet instead of ordering from local shops?

Last Saturday I ordered a small (24t) chainring from a shiny local store that sponsored a green Tour Series race team last year.

I paid up front, having been given no choice in the matter, and they took my name, and mobile phone number, and gave me a reference number for the order.

Yesterday, having received all the other parts from CRC (parts that the shop "couldn't find" on their stock ordering system) I phoned the shop to enquire after my order. Not only had they wrongly described the item as a 38t ring, but hey? Surprise surprise, it had arrived. No text, no phone call, though. Why? Well, because it had gone into the "wrong drawer" as a stock item rather than a customer order. After ten minutes on the phone, while the chap in the shop went through the 'goods received' list and then went off to find it, I was finally told that, although the description was wrong, they did indeed have the correct part, and it was ready to collect.

Good job I hadn't planned on doing the repairs and getting out on the bike earlier that day, eh?

...oh, wait...

irked

Next time I'll just order the frigging chainring straight off the internet. If I'm willing to order from abroad I can have it even cheaper too. Seriously, you'd think that bricks'n'mortar shops would try harder with their customer service. It's all they've really got to differentiate themselves from the big online suppliers...

...trying to support local businesses? I must need my head testing banghead
Sadly, had the same issue with my LBS. Ordered a component, took the bike in on a Sat am and they just looked at me puzzled 'oh, we forgot to order It'.

That wasn't the first time they'd messed up, they also charged me to replace a spoke on a handbuilt wheel that they built a few months earlier (it was a £700 wheelset), so I expected a bit of good will and customer service.

Sadly, for them, it's cost them ££££ in lost sales as I've purchased a new bike since from a different store. I'm sure they're not bothered, but it annoys me when I receive poor service, i'd been a loyal customer before that incident and purchased 2 x bikes from them and numerous other bits and pieces.
I'm similarly fed up with my LBS, I have given them too many second chances, but I can't remember the last successful transaction I've had there. The final straw was when I bent my XT rear mech just before Xmas. I phoned them up to check that they had the mech in stock, which they said they did. I pushed the bike to the shop, only to be told that they needed to order it in and that it would take a few days. By walking to the shop I had missed the cut off for pre-xmas delivery from CRC. Then they didn't even put the order in until the new year, meaning I had 10 days off work and couldn't ride my bike. My best mate managed to clock 35km more than me for the year, which I could have easily beaten.

That's cool!

I'm still trying to wear out my old PH Foska tops with commuting. They're baggier, but refuse to die. I also need to wear my Iron Man one more often!

New helmet, went for a Specialized Airnet as they were on offer at Sigma for £69 plus an additional 10% off sale items, so a bargain at £62.

There might be other listings a bit cheaper, and off the App will be a bit less, especially if you can find another voucher, but start here:

I've got a new bike incoming, so ordered a few essentials: tubeless tyre valves and 11sp quick links as it is my first 1x11 setup. Also some lithium grease so that I can give my pedals a service before they go on the new bike.

Turns out my little project bike isn't running tubulars.

Any one need a pair of Vittoria Rally Tubulars? I also have the tape, which I won't use.

The cheapest place seems to be £13 from Decathlon, so does £10 per tube, plus P&P seem fair?

I might have just accidently bought a 105 cyclocross groupset (without crankset), 10-speed, including road handlebar, for €85. Oops!

Sti shifters 2x10
2x Avid cantis with posh straddle cables
Cable stop spacer ('gegenhalter' in German, not sure of the English word)
Rear mech
Front mech
Cables and housing, possibly reusable, if so they'll go in the parts bin for the commuter bike!

The TdF offers are all coming in from the various retailers, got an Altura Pelton L/S jersey for autumn reduced from £59 to £22.50 from Merlin and have just snapped up 2x Corsa G+ with latex tubes for £78 from Vanilla, current best price is £37 each so £4 for 2 latex tubes is nice.

I need to tidy up the cables on my new bike, so bought some Park Cable cutters, but then decided that whilst I am shortening the dropper post cable I may as well fit the lever under the bar, so I bought a KS Southpaw lever too.

The front brake hose needs to be shortened too, so I bought a Shimano brake bleed kit and 3D printed a cable clamp at work.
