Hi Luke,
little typo in your list, the slovenian Opel ran 9.55 not 9.95,
great performance from a 650 HP engine on a "lesser-than-average" track.

O/T :
The Boba-tuned "16Vampir" 4WD Golf ran 8.8 / 266 KM/h 2 weeks ago at Bitburg.

Seen that S3 before, that started my obsession with Octavia Estates, strangely enough.

I figured that would be a better sleeper than an S3 or R32.

Hi Rob,
yes it is, but not Family, just Stephan and his team from the workshop.
They bought a raw bodyshell 4 years ago and cut the front half off,
set up their engine and axle position and put a 2.2L C20LET in it,
that was boosted to 900hp > "Project 900".
More info & pix here :
http://www.klasen-motors.com/Opel-Astra-H-Turbo-Kl...
One of the car´s special parts is the General Motors "Sport Automatic for FWD"
which has a GM parts number and can be bought "over the counter",
but is capable of withstanding 1600 hp and several converters can be ordered.
The runs of the Astra are not very spectacular,
once the car is out of launch control the revs hardly vary,
constant boost & power, no revs-dropping, pops & bangs that go with stick-shifting.
The run in Bitburg was done with lots of wheelspin and not too much boost,
the name of the car could change to "Project under 9.00"......smile in the future.

The Yellow VX is matt black foiled now, looks even meaner and has a new owner,
who knows the car for years and has driven it before, that Opel has ~650hp.
Useless fact : the VX owner´s brother now is the owner of the "Boost Beast",
the brit/german collaboration which resulted in a black twin-engined 4WD Corsa Mk1.

P.S.:
Stephan has been to the Pod before, when is the big Vauxhall meeting ?

Normally the first weekend of June.

I remember seeing the VX220 in 2008, that's why I recognised the name!

I was always a little disappointed with the regal/eds nova, never seemed to perform so well on UK tarmac as it did in Germany, nice idea though.

Would be nice to see the Astra in the UK at some point.

How did Mario´s green VR6T Polo go last weekend @ Santa Pod,
and what times was the grey 4WD Polo from "Don Octane" Ben Rauch run ?

Will there be any fast FWD running at the Finals ?

Mario ran a 9.742 @ 144 just off his pb but a new terminal pb, he was getting quicker ever run and was about to run but a light shower ended play on Sunday

Ben in the polo ran 9.36@ 154mph

Unfortunately the will be no fwd's competing at the finals this year, the cars ar getting quicker and soon they will start filtering into the mainstream classes

Guy Chamberlain did a 9.4 at the Outlaws meet in August at Pod I believe, I was there and did a run against Kiel Priestman's Civic, he ran a 9.9 beside me!

Hopefully I will be entering with my Mk1 Golf next year, chassis just needs a little more work underneath and the cage in then I can build my engine, picking up a GT2871R turbo and Tial wastegate next week, aiming for 380-400bhp out of my 20vT engine, won't be troubling these guys but an 11 @ 120+ would be nice!

I love these FWD drag cars, awesome engineering and they look and sound fantastic.
