I think I remember reading that a Maltese chap is licencing in one of the RF cars.

Wonder if when licencing 1000ft is deemed as your full pass, but surly he will be tempted to run a 1/4 mile full pass.

it takes a Brave Person to mention TF on this Forum.

i suspect Risto would be be a big contender this year as he has been the last couple. and whoever gets the Andersen's seat.

the interesting aspect this year is the new teams coming in like Janne Ahonen , Chris Andrews, and Patrick Pers who hopes to run the whole tour. should be some decent Fields and Closer Racing.

not heard Much from Team Erbacher over the Winter. any news as to whether they will race this year? they had plans to Race at Yas Marina again but that event never Happened.

Even with them licencing and if risto turns up its still three floppers n three rails either way i cant wait and i cant see urs not contending the title after a two consecutive titles but ur right it has been quiet over the winter

It looks like a good entry list all round really in most of the car and bike classes.

Good to see especially after all of the close season complaints.

It just goes to show you can never really give up drag racing until the day you are totally skint, or you are not physically able drive/ride anymore.

But given the budget, the track, the experience, the data - should it NOT be a surprise ??

Pushing the limits is what the top teams are supposed to do isnt it ?

Not taking anything away from the numbers, just saying....
Yup. I just enjoy watching it where ever.Anyone running topfuel must have alot of money or backing or both. Wouldnt be suprised if someone notched the 330mph barrier.

Agreed, I think he pretty much sums it up.

To throw in another 2ps worth, the editor of Australias glossy mag Dragster Australia recently outlined ANDRAs coming strategies for 2012 finishing off with, quote: "the 1000ft deal is NOT REQUIRED in Australian Drag Racing so let's snuff that rumour out right now".
They have 4 second floppers and TFDs there as well, but sensibly imo are holding to the 'if it aint broke don't fix it' outlook.
Can we swap the FIA for ANDRA you reckon??? Commmonwealth affiliation n' all that : P

I'm kind of hoping if no one mentions it I'll not notice, not much chance of that.

1000 feet racing in Europe is here to stay.

Buy the rest of the runway as a gift for Tierp or get over it.

Don't know how old that magazine was you read but I think you will find that they have a 1000ft race in place already at Calder and are looking to put it across the board for parity.

Just like they have here.

To be honest all you do it moan about Santa Pod, the FIA etc so I don't know why you bother. They start to late, they finish to early, they don't personally discuss rain off options with you cause you have to travel from up North. Believe it or not in most cases these people do things for the greater good. I am not that keen on 1000ft but I would rather see that than nothing.

Just accept this is what we have and in some cases we should be lucky we still have this with the nanny state we live in today.

January 20th 2012.

From what I can tell Victoria is building a facility better than Calder Park.
Calder Park has a short, curved run off and has to run a lot of 1/8th mile already, TDS for example. I doubt they even could run TF to 1000ft there at all??? - but if you can elaborate on your sources I'll check it out.

If you wish to scrutinise my posts at least give a balanced public summary, without checking I'm sure you'll also find a lot of support for SPR going on and my only beef with the FIA is the lost 320ft along with a lot of other people. Racers voice more issues with the FIA than I do, ask them why they bother then?
If there is criticism it is constructive, or offered as feedback, or questioning due to a lack of understanding on my part. Public forum, discussion and debate and all that.

I accept 1000ft is here, I accept that many are neutral with it and likewise they could accept that a good proportion are not. The real minority are those in favor.
Refer back to Mr. Webster for a good argument, who I respect for not sitting back and smiling politely in his position.

So a whole day of racing for about the price of a 90 minute Npower Championship game? Doesn't seem unreasonable to me.

Maybe you should pop along to Silverstone! Or 90 mins of Premiership football. £35 is amazing value for an amazing day out, I'm sure Santa Pod will get on fine without you.
