Hello UK Racers & techies,

I am not a ruelbook expert but seem to remember that silencers are "recommended" in JD for several years now,

and I thought that they were made mandatory for 2017, with tests going on in 2016 for a "british made" model,

to have an alternative to the NHRA-approved 300$ box made by Borla.

I remember some photos, but as far as I heard the tests were not succesful and no developments were made.

Are silencers for JD no longer mandatory and have been toned down to "recommended" again ?

I think the sound level and frequency is quite fierce and have my doubts if this is the right way to go.

A few decibels less would maybe mean some 1/100secs slower, but if everyone has the same restrictions,

the playing field is leveled again.

With the large number of JDs this might be the "yes or no" criteria for some Drag Strips,

maybe not in Britain but maybe in other countries,

and I have read about some US local strips where silencing is mandatory for many Sportsman Classes including JD.

On the other hand, it seems that Borla has the X1 for JD no longer in the program,

is there another manufacturer doing a NHRA version now ?
