That "Doorslammer" Race in May 2018 @ SPR...
Discussion
...looks like an interesting format, anyone from here planning to get in the lanes ?
There might be some german 1/4mile tuners tempted, but questions about MOT / TÜV arise,
and which tech specs apply for non-MOT cars.
I will try to get info about that, whom should I ask , maybe Ian @ SPRC ?
The "4cylinder" class is OK for 4WD cars with turbos ? What about cars converted to 4WD that were FWD stockers ?
What about VR6 powered cars, they fit in the 6cyl class, 4WD allowed there ?
By the way, has there ever been a Nitro Doorslammer ? Andy Carter´s Anglia, I seem to remember ?
I plan to be in the lanes, but with a lens in hand, not a steering wheel,
must see if I can manage 2 weeks off work for Doorslammers and Main Event back-to back.

I believe SPR are the best people to talk to, my James Forster or Darren Prentice will be best for answering your questions.
Hopefully it won't turn into 'what is a real street car' debate for those classes.
Heard rumours of a few special guests and a team from Sweden wanting to run nitro!

I remember back to the 1989 Doorslammers where I beat Dave Pollens 8 sec Opel Manta "Pollen Count" to the stripe JUST with my 10.67 I think it was and then proceeded to blow my bonnet up in the air when a hose blew out, somewhat frightening in the dark, 15 mins and all was fixed for the next round with the help of about 10 people, fantastic bunch of guys. I too hope and imagine it will be as good as that was, that was the best most enjoyable evenings racing in my short 10yr career.....I too will be there for the excitement but observing or perhaps helping someone out. Shame the only class for slick tired race cars is brackets, but with that much prize money it don't matter, would be real cool to see Lutz/Larson or even 1 of those Fox body cars that can run 5.8's take on the PM's.

I have entered in the big bracket on the Sat and FWD.
My plan is to do a single pass in FWD for qualifying on the Sat and then concentrate on the Bracket for the Sat then do eliminations on the Sunday in FWD.
I was racing in the FWD drag series at the weekend and ran a pb of 10.63 and backed it up with a 10.64 im hoping i can repeat that consistency at the Doorslammers, hopefully see some of you there

There are details published on today's Eurodragster.com news and you can click on a link in the bulletin straight through to the official page on Santa Pod's website.
Hi RobinThanks for the reply....seems Im not alone about the lack of Saturday night action as per old style Doorslammers....
Do you know the reason for shutting at 6? Is it noise related or more related to noise with the upcoming Main Event ?
ATB....
Couldn´t make it to SPR due to work, but have read the good live report on eurodragster.com
Marcin "Blaha" Blauth ´s Camaro is a steel body shell on a modified Cyclone chassis,
powered by a big-turboed SBC, all wheels driven, all done in-house by Warsaw-based VTG Racing.
I wonder why they haven´t brought VTG boss Gregor´s similar built but even stronger "Corvette".
