First time poster on here, so I'me not technicaly savvy.
I have a TVR Chimaera 4.8ltr with a turbo on MS 2. It produces 523bhp/580lbft and has run 1.51 60ft -10.9 @ 132mph.
I have a new DevilsOwn W/M kit that I have recently bought, because it was going cheap.
Question is............
Will it make it go faster (I want to go faster)
Will I have to get it remapped.
Sorry if these seem dumb questions, just looking for opinions.
Many thanks
Barrie

I am by no means an expert, but I was always under the impression a water/meth injection kit is used to aid cooling of the air intake temps. The higher the intake temps the increased chance of detonation.

It may make it go faster. You might be able to get a bit more boost or timing.

Yes, you will need it remapped.

Injecting water / meth without increasing boost and remapping may lower your HP.

What it does is to decrease the chance of detonation by cooling the inlet charge.

it works like an intercooler, allows more timing etc
a fair bit of research done in the early days with airplane engines that were supercharged
some documentation floating around the internet

Water/methanol mix alone won't make it go faster. Water displaces fuel and you need over twice as much methanol as petrol to see any advantage. But spraying this mix into the inlet can allow you to run more boost and therefore burn more fuel, which can make more power (until you run out of water of course). Overall it's often better just to run better quality fuel and turn the boost up. The real advantage of water really is in maximizing the detonation resistance of poor quality fuel. Some diesel tractor pullers use it to very good effect.
