2001 Honda Civic boot won't open

Hello,

First time poster in this section of PH.

I have a 2001 Honda Civic which I bought last year for £775 to tide me over for a few months until I could find something a bit more permanent. It's a 1.6 Executive SE.

But I've still got it and I have an irritating issue with it. The boot won't open! There is no latch inside the car like with the filler cap and the key won't work on it either. I don't particularly want to spend much money on, so has anyone experienced this or have any tips on how to fix it?

I had it once - it turned out the boot handle wasn't returning all the way "out" when released. Lots of wiggling and pulling out handle and locking / unlocking on the plipper and it hasn't done it since.
