I think aux was standard from MY2009 but it was an option before then. I can't see headlight washers in your pic (?) so guessing it was made before then (as HID's became standard then as well).

I do really like these in red, trying to find one myself at the moment! Good choice! biggrin

Aux cable is an easy fit though; there’s a few used cables on eBay at the moment.

I’d go powder coat on the wheels, graphite/dark grey is a good shout.

Glad you finally got one!

Glad you got one sorted. Doesn't look too pink either!

Is the number before the U in your VIN an 8 or a 9?
If it's an 8, it's a 2008 model.

The rattle, there's a heatshield on the driveshaft that has weird woven washers. This usually causes a rattle.

Was it the 2009 or 2010 that got the LSD?

A friend had one with the 19s, bonecrunching ride to put it mildly.

Cars manufactured after April 2010 by the sounds of it but it's quite hard to work out if you've got one without either jacking the car up or giving Honda a call with the VIN. (Or buying the champ white 2009 model which all got it)

My girlfriend, not so much - first trip, and she dinged the door of a post in a car park, leaving two chips! Delighted...
And she's still your girlfriend? laugh

Nice purchase OP.
If you are getting rattles that sound like its coming from the dash, it might be where the windscreen meets the trim under the bonnet. Well documented problem. Just incase its driving you mad! easy to fix. I did mine a couple months back and its been fine ever since.

Also make sure you keep an eye on the oil levels. Depending on usage its not uncommon for it to use a litre every 800 miles. I always have a top up in the boot, and check it once or every other week. Common sense really if you like sticking it in vtec!

Sat Nav you should be able to get a DVD with updated maps? maybe worth checking ebay.

Thanks. I will have a look. The worst rattle/squeak was the perspex on the speedometer, which is fixed currently with an unsightly strip of thick double sided tape. The other is over on the passenger side somewhere.

I have read about the oil levels - though the chap says it doesn't burn oil. Will keep an eye. This may sound like a daft question, but do you just top it up through the cap with the dipstick and a funnel, and does it matter if I top it up with an oil that is different to that which is already there - as I do not know what oil was used at the last change (or should I just have the oil changed...).
if needs a top up then 10w40 semi will be fine in the short term, mixing oils shouldn't matter on a small scale like that. If it was serviced at a generic garage there's a good chance they used 10w40...the honda recommendation for the fn2 is 0w30 i think, but as we live in such a temperate climate, more or less any middling grade is fine.

if you don't know when the last oil change was done, might be worth doing it/getting it done for peace of mind.

ah just keep an eye on the level then.

its a honda so the oil change interval will be 12500 miles or 12 months, whichever ticks first.

I know the last oil change was in May by a main dealer, when the car was serviced.
Congrats on your choice, you went for the fastest colour wink

Any idea what oil was used? when i first had mine i was using Castrol 0W-30 which it went through rather quickly, since switching to Fuchs Titan Race Pro S 5W-40 the consumption is far less even when using plenty of VTEC

Powdercoating is totally fine, i've had 3 or 4 sets painted using that method with no ill-effects whatsoever.

There is some online myth style debate over whether the oven makes the wheels brittle, but i think that only applies to some very specific wheels.

That said, there's nothing wrong with wet spraying them either, it really makes no odds in terms of the finish.

I believe powercoating provides a more durable finish. Had two sets of wheels powder coated in the past and they were spot on

I think painted finish is more durable personally. A friend had some powdercoated that were flaking away 4 years later when mine still looked brand new.

Go OEM. Non standard badges look st.

Powder coating is the way forward for wheels for sure.

Just noticed the car doesn't have a Type R grille badge. To get a cheap eBay replica or shell out sixty quid for an original...
To be honest I'd agree with butterface and get a genuine part. Yeah it'll cost you £60 now but a crap eBay one that's a tenner and will probably brake will cost you the same amount if you keep replacing it laugh

Or alternatively you can check eBay or a local beakers yard and see if they have a complete grille for sale. Or even failing that my local Honda dealer has an accord type r grille badge for sale for £20 posted. Won't have the correct font 'R' but it's a genuine part and it might even fit if you're lucky laugh
