09 seems to be a bit of a weird year. It seems there's a strange crossover of the 'facelift' options. My 09 seems to have all the updates other than the diff it seems, since it'll chirp the inside wheel out of junctions.

Really, really like mine though. Great handling, decent power and overall just a nice experience. I too have a few interior rattles though, seems to be the norm.

I'm pretty sure mines is an 08MY that was registered in 09. The aux is annoying. I never expected it to have the diff - I am pretty sure that other than CW models, diffs weren't added until April 10? I do really like it so far, but I will like it a lot more once the niggles are sorted! Dog smell is just about gone...
I have a 10 plate, so was lucky to get the last batch of updates with the HID with washers, AUX & USB ports. Haven't had to the car up to check for a LSD but I pretty sure it handles like its got one! The dog smell must be ass. hope you manage to get rid of it.

What sort of miles are you guys with FN2 Type R's getting between tanks? I've had three EP3's and remember about 300-350 between fill ups. Is it similar with the newer model? Seriously thinking about getting one but I now do a 20 odd mile commute each way to work so needs to be half decent between fill ups. I suppose the cruise control will help to a degree as most of the commute is on a dual carriage way. (Sorry for the mini hijack!)

300-320, mix on town, commute and hooning. The FN2 has a closer ratio gearbox compared to the EP3 so 80 mph is over 4k rpm, having said that mine will easily do 35-38 mpg on the motorway if i stay around 70 mph

Thanks for the info Rich, I had a Focus ST prior to my current diesel hack and was more than happy to leave a little earlier for my journey to work to help the mpg creep up a bit doing little over 60mph! Lol. Made me feel a bit better when I had a little blast at the weekend!

I easily get between 300-350 on a usual driving mix.

Recently hit 42.5mpg on a 150 mile motorway journey at 65.

You'll get used to it to a degree, my DC5 is a very hard ride on the OEM shocks compared to your average car.

I'm not sure if its the same as FN2s, but on integras fitting a set of eibach springs makes for a much more progressive and more comfortable ride apparently...could be worth a look.

If the finish on the wheels, and the ride, are getting to you, why not get shot of them for a set of smaller wheels? you'll kill two birds with one stone.

Oh, and the ride. My days, it is backbreaking. I did five hundred miles on the motorway this weekend and it was almost painful. It made me spend an hour looking at large diesel barges to replace it ... before deciding I need to man up laugh
I think the 19's with rubber band tyres are to blame. I can't wait to 'downgrade' to the stock 18's, it has to be better. I'm thinking maybe the stock 18's plus the eibach's should make the ride positively luxurious in comparison to stock springs + rage wheels.

Ah, in that case, it sounds like it's time to "suck it up, buttercup" as my gf likes to say, and live with the ride.

It'll be rewarding when everything is up to your standard integroo, keep at the cleaning, it'll get better in time. Exhaust can't be anything too major and what used car doesn't come with a load of curb rash as standard anyway!

I wouldn't call slightly oxidised wheels and dog smell rough, not even close.

when buying older jap performance its not unusual to have a whole laundry list of little niggles to sort out.

that said, the FN2 is a relatively modern car.

I've had to spend frustrating amounts of money putting stupid stuff right on the integra, but it's just part of it...it'll either fall on you, or the next owner, and i tend to take a fairly high duty of care of my cars while i own them.

In a year i've spent just over £4k on the dc5, maintenance and little bits, £600 of that went on sorting out a crappy alarm and immobiliser install that did everything from lock me out, to drain the battery, and refuse to start.

Car is currently in for a full respray because the corner-cutting previous owner thought it would be a good idea to get a back alley cheap respray done in single stage paint.

so yeah, trust me, it could be worse!

ideal time for a custom/aftermarket system...gone from where exactly?

Down pipe, or cat back?

You should be able to buy a decent aftermarket cat back system second hand for a reasonable amount...maybe £300 odd off a type R FB group.

new backbox then...easy, and a lot cheaper than a full replacement cat back system.

Honda OEM parts aren't known for their cheapness.

Probably worth hunting out a replacement OEM backbox from a breaker...will cost you a lot less.

Or you can get a nice JDM system, its a good excuse for an upgrade smile
