I now have an FN2!
Discussion
Looking through the thread, unanswered things look like the out of date sat nav - I had to replace the nav DVD recently in my FN3 as the player decided to chew the original disc, and found a store online selling them for £25. They're most likely made in someone's garage (The disc even has a scan of the original disc stuck on top), but it works perfectly and is the 2017 update... And the site I bought hasn't renewed it's URL domain!
Anyone up for running https://www.thesatnavshop.com/ ?
At least the disc I bought was called: Honda 3.B0 2017 Europe Sat Nav DVD Disc Update
Anyway, the 2017 versions out there are up to date, at least for the roads I use.

Oh also, on the Aux thing - there is a proprietary USB connector from Honda that enables you to play music from an iPhone (still works with iOS 11) or a USB stick. Worth it IMO as you can select music from the centre console rather than faffing with phones!
Looks something like this.
That one does seem cheap though as I remember them being around £20 a few years ago!

The exhaust is an easy fix mate. Nothing on your list really classes it as a dog....now if the gearbox was knackered or you were smoking on VTEC...there's an actual concern!
I've dropped £4k this year on bringing my DC5 back to tip top condition and getting a few little bits sorted, and none of that is major stuff aside from the respray...engine mount here, fixed immobiliser there, servicing, new front tyres, wheel refurb, couple of intake mods.
But then i've been buying and modifying interesting cars for a long time, it sounds like you just aren't used to that extra level of tinkering and investment that more powerful older cars can require.
If the front bumper is annoying you, pick up a new one from a breakers.
Buy some foam tape and foam pads, and go around solving each interior rattle in turn, it takes time but is an easy fix.
Ditch the wheels for something smaller and more comfortable that doesn't need a refurb...2 birds with one stone there.

Smart repair can be excellent or terrible, shop around for a decent one. They can certainly tidy up those scrapes easy enough.
It sounds like your most pressing concern is improving the ride, as something like that will be make or break in keeping the car long term.
If i were you i would hop on ebay or gumtree and find some 17s to slap on there, then if that improves the ride, you'll know whether this is a keeper or not.
If it makes you feel any better, the dc5 has to go in for a full underseal in a couple weeks, thats £350, then after xmas it needs its 75k service which will be about £550, then it also either needs a new power steering pump, or the steering rack pulling out and refurbishing...both of which will run into the hundreds. Also currently got it back in the paint shop to put right a couple of bits they didn't nail the first time around.
It gets frustrating, but if you enjoy driving it, stick with it. I usually spend the first year of ownership sorting niggles on a car, then after that it (most of the time) gets easier.

Mate just buy a VAG product and cry when it sts it's dsg, dpf, egr, etc etc at crazy cost but vag owners seem to think the marque is reliable cos the old ads say so.
You bought a secondhand Type R knowing it's probably not seen a main dealer for years, it's on big rims and is a petrol high revving sports car. An old owner stuck a dog in it not Honda engineers.
What did you expect a one year old Polo diesel?
Sorry to be harsh but..

Sounds like you bought abit of a lemon.. i took a gamble 2 years ago with my FN2 as it came with very little service history but drove perfectly and was a clean 1 owner example
Had the 75k/8 year major service carried out mainly by myself & dad but also TGM Sport for valve clearance and fuel filter change and the car runs perfectly, it will be a while yet before i get bored of this car
Although i do think 18's are a must

I accept I should have been more circumspect given the condition of the wheels and the slight exhaust rattle, however it had a full book of service stamps, plenty of paperwork, last three services were at a main dealer who I spoke to and who confirmed the mechanical condition prior to purchase. I'm not crying, I am just saying I don't enjoy it as much as I thought, and given this I am trying to decide whether to spend the time and money fixing it up (wheels, exhaust, front splitter mainly) or move it on. Mechanically, rattling baffles aside, it seems to be in good nick, though the valve clearances don't appear to have been done recently. It drives perfectly. I've already managed to get rid of the smell of dog, fix a broken electric mirror, I have a blower motor coming to fix the central fan vents (hopefully).
Oh, and the various interior rattles I would suggest are due to suspect build quality.

The interior rattles surprise me quite a bit...the DC5 interior is sparse but everything is very well attached/stuck down. My first honda so i assumed they were all like that.
Although, the Fn2 is built in the UK and not japan right? might have something to do with it.
Built in Swindon. I have sorted two rattles already and another two have developed. Plus the various internal electrical niggles. Not what I expected from a Honda! Although, the Fn2 is built in the UK and not japan right? might have something to do with it.
Get an import next time!
I'm sure once you sort these little bits and pieces it'll seem better. Try to focus on the overall driving experience and the little stuff won't seem quite as important.
You will have similar issues with any performance car that's a few years old, i've never owned a brand new car, which probably helps my expectations when it comes to these things.

I have received a quote of 80 to 150 to replace the backbox from a local exhaust shop, which is much more reasonable. Will get that done this week hopefully. How much did you pay for yours? I'd get a milltek non res exhaust from abp sport as they will be doing a Christmas promotion.
The bumper is standard fn2 fault that it doesn't look aligned. Mine has the same look and tgm sport informed me it was a common query.
Love my fn2. Fantastic cars

6k, plus 530 quid for four new tyres and about 100 quid in other odds and ends. I think that's a decent enough price for an 09 with sub 60k miles. The bumper is standard fn2 fault that it doesn't look aligned. Mine has the same look and tgm sport informed me it was a common query.

I'd rather keep it stock to keep my insurance premiums sensible tbh, though it might be worth exploring with my insurer what the premium impact would be if I added a performance exhaust and air filter (as if I was doing one, I'd want to do the other!).
Did TGM Sport manage to fix it or is it just a live with it sort of deal? Mine has a couple of scuffs so it has definitely been bumped once or twice.
