Anyone notice their CRV a bit tail happy in snow? Mine has become very unstable in slippy conditions. I thought it might be brakes again but no heat on the discs or hubs.

MOT day for ours.
How did it go?

And do heavier duty clutches exist for these cars at all?
Passed OK advisories on the rubbers around the front ball joints. They are split but still protect when in the normal position. I have a very pragmatic MOT tester!.

I need some new Tyres though they are starting to crack on the side wall.

No idea regarding the Clutch I'm afraid.

I cannot recommend Michelin Crossclimate tyres enough. Fabulous grip all year round.

My Lexus Im selling has them; ones on the CRV i bought are pretty dang awful in the cold and snow but as they are new, i am at pains to spend another £500 on new rubber just yet - unless i end up in a ditch.......then they will no doubt be the first thing i buy!

Well, the CRV has been well and truly worth its weight in gold getting me to work for what turned out to be a 20 hour shift followed by a 2am drive home this morning across - what i think were - roads!

I didn't expect it to be able to handle the drifting and other problems we've had in the last couple of days but it did. Im sure no diff lock would stop me eventually but it handled some lumpy stuff without a complaint.

Top baby 4x4.

Yep mine has done sterling work this week, no point risking the Giulia.

CRV has a set of Falken AT’s on it now, they seem well capable of handling the Snow.

To my CRV's credit, I pushed Lego (as we have named the car cos it looks like a Lego kit) into service as an ambulance response vehicle last week. It was loaded up with full emergency response kit, a sitting patient, ECA and relative and away we went! The ability for the rear seats to recline was an absolute godsend too.

Next series of questions regarding the Mk2:

1. Will the CRV accept 17 inch rims?
2. Has anyone swapped out the headlamps for LED's? If so, which ones did you buy?
3. Windscreen wipers: which do you find work best?
4. Fog lamps: mine has none and I am thinking of retro-fitting. Has anyone else done this?

Can’t help with the other questions but I changed the wipers for some Michelin ones which were on offer in Aldi. They are crap!. Seem to be too hard and make a right noise as the scrape across the screen. Probably why they are on offer.

Been out in the snowy Dales yesterday, Car is very sure footed in those conditions, could get it to spin the wheels much even by being deliberatly rough with it.

Dear Diary:

Fitted today:

Windscreen wipers:

Fronts: Bosch Aero AR21U and AR20U - £37
Rear: Bosch Single 11 - £10

Fitted x 4 GE 448 +130% bulbs - £72

New OEM Front headlamp assemblies on their way from Honda - £320 - dealer jobbing out inventory so a good deal. I looked at getting breakers parts which would have been half the money but got new as I can varnish and protect them from the off.

How hard are the bulbs to change on these? My OH was complaining her lights weren't very good, I polished them up but was thinking of replacing the bulbs with Osram Nightbreakers or Philips like I have on both my cars.

I cheated. Halford GE448's price was as good as anyone. I had a windscreen chip they were fixing anyway and they offered to fit the bulbs and wipers whilst i waited for £8. He took some skin off doing it; lower one is a right little so and so. new headlamp units come next week but it was dangerous driving around as they were. Irony is I do something about it as the clocks change.....dohhh

Very easy compared to some cars just remove dust cover and plug, squeeze the metal clip and swing out. Not loads of room but enough to not make it a gymnasts job.

So long as you keep the rolling radius the same, then they should be fine. Personally I'd keep the 16s on your car. Nice to have a bit of sidewall for a comfortable ride.

www.willtheyfit.com is useful for working out the rolling radius of tyre/wheel size combinations, if you want to experiment.

Good luck with your Mk2 CRV. They're good tough family cars. Link to my readers cars thread from a couple of years ago... https://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&...
