Tyre wear HRV

Honda Dtec just had its first service at 7,000 miles and front tyres are down to just under 4mm. Does this seem normal? Car has been driven pretty gently for these miles and probably 50/50 between town and motorway. Not had a diesel for a while and I am aware that the heavier engine will impact tyre wear but this seems a bit excessive as I am guessing they will need replaced around the 10,000 mile mark...
